Ben Stein: "Arab Spring" is a fraud
CBS News ^ | May 15, 2011

Posted on 05/15/2011 7:47:39 AM PDT by La Lydia

Now, I am going to tell you the truth about the so-called "Arab Spring," and about the Middle East generally right now. First, the "Arab Spring" as a force for democracy, human rights and peace in Egypt seems to me to be a fraud. The dictator and his entourage who were kicked out in Egypt were pro-West, a bit restrained on Israel, open to free enterprise, and resistant to Iranian-sponsored terror.

Egypt is now rapidly becoming anti-Israel, pro-Iran, pro the Iranian-sponsored terrorist group Hamas, and very far from being pro-human rights. They are arresting businessmen right and left in Egypt just for the crime of being successful. They have arrested Mubarak's sons, and have said they plan to try Mubarak.

The most potent of the political forces in Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood, hates the United States, loathes Israel, condemns the killing of bin Laden (whom they praised as a martyr), and have been wedded to terror for their entire existence.

Oh, P.S, they are closely connected with Adolph Hitler. They will probably take over Egypt completely sooner or later....

Has anyone noticed that the common denominator of all the successful Arab street movements is that they are sympathetic to Iran? When the dust settles, Iran is going to own the Middle East - except for maybe Saudi Arabia, if we have the guts to help them (which I very much doubt).

We are going to lose our pals in Bahrain - not nice guys, but pals of the U.S.A. anyway - and we are going to lose our pals in Yemen, and it will possibly have an actual al Qaeda government.

There is a gigantic regional coup by Iran taking place. We are doing very little, if anything, to stop it...

The cold war never ends.

If it’s not one enemy, it’s another.

But, the Islamic war against the rest of the world, will eventually become a hot war, and the only solution to radical Islam is through force. There is no way to negotiate around madness.

Our government is “blowing it”? Looks to me more like our current Administration is abetting it.

We are not only not doing anything to stop it, Obama is helping the spread of Islamism wherever possible. The creation of the Greater Caliphate is getting as much help as possible by The Won.

Ben Stein's conservative spring is a fraud:

Stein, an actor, writer and economist, has contributed $2,000 to Franken's Minnesota Senate campaign. The two men have known each other for about 30 years.

"I'm struck by what an incredibly capable, hard-working guy he is," Stein told The Associated Press in a telephone interview Thursday. "He's a very smart liberal, he's a thoroughgoing patriot, and I would feel better with him in the Senate."

“They are arresting businessmen right and left in Egypt just for the crime of being successful. They have arrested Mubarak’s sons, and have said they plan to try Mubarak. “

That’s the only good thing they have done so far. Being ‘successful’ there is being a corrupt SOB, all their illegally obtained properties should be confiscated. I’d be successful too if FedGov gave me Manhattan land for $1 a m2

What, so you think the Arab Spring isn’t advancing the interests of Iran?

The real story is that none of the breathless, highly educated, "Professional Journalists" cheering on the "freedom fighters for democracy" saw that one coming.

Stein seems to be able to see our islamic enemies clearly even if he is incapable of understanding the danger from our liberal enemies.

Agree. I was struck by all the ‘rebels’ crying out for ‘democracy’. They spoke in English and knew what word to use to excite the Western journalists. Islamofascists.

Stein misses the obvious as usual..
Egypt has never had FREEdom, and has always been run by a dictator..
The people do not know or want freedom..

Much like Russia or China.. the people have never had, known or want freedom...
They have never had God given Rights but instead government allowed privileges..

The people of Russia, China and Egypt and the rest of the world including Europe don't know the difference between privileges AND rights..

Ben Stein missed all that.. How about you!..

“Egypt is now rapidly becoming anti-Israel, pro-Iran, pro the Iranian-sponsored terrorist group Hamas, and very far from being pro-human rights.”

An unpleasant reality is that the above is a direct result OF democracy in Egypt. Their citizens are quite content with such a state of affairs.
