GUATEMALA CITY (AP) -- Assailants killed at least 29 people - decapitating most of the victims - on a ranch in a part of northern Guatemala plagued by drug cartels, national police said Sunday.
The massacre took place early Sunday in the town of Caserio La Bomba in Peten province near the Mexico border, according to National Civil Police spokesman Donald Gonzalez. Among the 29 dead were two children and two women.
It is one of the worst massacres since the end of Guatemala's 36-year civil war in 1996.
Gonzalez said police are investigating whether the attack is related to Saturday's killing in Peten of Haroldo Leon, the brother of alleged Guatemalan drug boss Juan Jose "Juancho" Leon.

Personally, given what else is commanded in this chapter by Moses, it is the height of offense to be playing ‘god’ using the WORD of God for political purposes. It is beyond comprehension how frightening this is and there isn’t enough attention yo it. Argh!

When traveling in Mississippi in 2006, I met a Mexican painter who was working there at $4 an hour for an Atlanta contractor. I asked him if he could get equivalent work in Mexico, would he rather live there or here. When asked why if he would like to return to Mexico, he preferred here, he said, “In the US, the police are honest.”
Thus, if that is a general trend, and from experience living and traveling in Mexico and Central America, I tend to believe it is, then the logical thing to do is help/advise these countries in upgrading the quality of their police. The question then becomes, what would be effective methodology?
History does demonstrate the masses have never been on the side of 'right'.
Different point, this article describes beheading. But it does not say IF the massacre was performed by 'gun' toting killers. I cannot help but wonder if that was not an intentional oversight, given this administrations operation into gun running.
Strangely enough, nothing has been reported so far that I know of about the Taliban bombing that took place in Pockystan this Friday where the deathtoll is already at 90.
The news is all over the European news inclusive of blood and guts pictures.
All we will ever see is the exact opposite of war reporting that has been done during the Bush administration. Anything that will make Obama look bad will not be reported.
