Great disaster prompts more women to seek marriage
2011/05/15
A growing number of singles, particularly women in urban areas, are scrambling to find marriage partners after the country's worst natural disaster in postwar years has forced them to think about their lifestyles and the future.
"I am more worried about my future and now realize how important it is to have a family," a 30-year-old female company employee in Tokyo said. "I want to form a bond with others."
The woman said her experiences after the March 11 Great East Japan Earthquake spurred her to rethink her lifestyle. It took her six hours to walk to her apartment on the night of the quake after the trains and subways stopped, and she had trouble falling asleep amid the subsequent aftershocks.
So, the woman signed up for a matchmaking service during the Golden Week holidays earlier this month.

P!
The earthquake had her bed moving for the first time in a decade.
So, she's tryin to hit it.
Sudden skyrocket in plane tickets to Japan from lonely white males.
I Would be willing to help in the name of Japo-American relations
Preferably a survivalist.:-)
What will liberal feminist groups say about this? Women reasessing their lives and deciding that marriage and family are important things they want in their lives? Can the N.O.W. crowd stomach this?
Some of the N.O.W. crowd say a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle. They must regard these Japanese women as traitors. I hope the N.O.W. crowd call out these Japanese women for turning their backs on “the cause”.
There is more to life than just shopping and access to a mall.
I can only imagine that it is completely natural to reevaluate your life, your entire life, after going through such a tragedy. Didn’t we have a ton of marriages and subsequent baby boom after WWII?! Men and women are forced to look at the nicer things in life. A spouse and children are the nicer things in life.
they build robots for that
Well, they are still in experimental stage. They lack many crucial functions.:-)
“Why do you not need a man?”
“Because I can do it on my own - I’m independent.”
“Then why do you invariably vote for government programs to support you?”
Yeah, these broads live in a house built by men, drive a car that is repaired by men, live in a country that hundreds of thousands of men died for... and they love to tell us how they "don't need a man."
Just saying: I predicted this on either a reply at PJ-media or FR the week of the disaster.
The bigger picture is that current generation in Japan — up to that date — had become childish and fearful of marriage. Japan had become suicidal. Suicides and young folks keeping themselves bottled up in their own little rooms were getting to be too much.
The disaster opened some real doors to Japan and its future.
Now all Japan needs a massive electrical black out and they’ll get a population boom.
I read some time ago about a study that showed people in disaster situations have a greater urge to procreate.

Too bad she waited until she was "Christmas cake" before realizing this.
hmmm... where do i shop for Christmas cake again?
