Kennedale is a town of about 7,300 residents near Arlington eight miles southeast of Fort Worth. The high school has about 3,200 students. Is there anything more annoying than sloppy journalism?

The school could have students from a number of towns. That’s the way we do it here.

In 1967 I graduated from a high school with an enrollment of 112 (grades 9 thru 12).
K thru 8 had at least that head count, for a total of 224+.
The population of the hamlet was 453.
Lots of rural population and many yellow buses is common in Heartland American primary and secondary education.

Many small towns in Texas near major metropolitan areas get swallowed up by the growth of the cities. The town's school district could cover a large rural area. That rural area then gets covered up by urban sprawl. Hence a small town with a very large school district population.
