A bill that would end the ban on military women fighting in combat has been introduced by Rep. Loretta Sanchez, D-Santa Ana.

“In actuality, this bill would officially recognize what is already happening on the battlefield – the fact that our military women are fighting in combat every day, all over the world,” Sanchez, the ranking female member on the House Armed Services Committee, said in a news release.

Me and an old Vietnam Colonel chatted about this over the weekend. We both agreed that those who have never served are attempting to make an organization designed to kill people and break things politically correct.

Women are not equal to men in terms of physical ability. Plus you need to factor in group cohesion...plus all the new “training” to make sure the guys aren’t mean to the gals.

You have that right, if captured the enemy would employ them as comfort women for years.

Women do not belong in the armed services unless it is a specific branch designed just for them, like the WAVES or the WACs. To place a female in an organized fighting unit alongside men is to simply imitate what communists/socialists have been doing for decades. Their purpose was to erode gender differences in order to discredit the Judeo/Christian bedrock of Western society. For most assuredly, the family unit was the foundation of our culture for centuries. In order for these godless people to destroy our society they infiltrated the public square encouraging every opportunity to fracture the family. Rock music, consumerism, feminism, homosexuality- all of these have affected the culture to the extent that it is almost unrecognizable today. Slowly but surely this has been occurring since the Second World War .It is a deliberate affront to Christianity and was meant to be so by leftist atheists who control so much of the ideology in our country today.

Does this mean women in the infantry? Ladies, I don’t mean to offend but I have come in contact with few if any women who can hike a 60 pound pack 20 miles. Quite frankly my ideal woman wouldn’t be able to do this. If that makes me sexist, so be it. However, I (like Rush Limbaugh) live in Litterolville (I love this line). Therefore I realize that men and women are different. No man is ever going to give birth and the vast, vast majority of women are never going to be bench pressing 200 pounds.

The physical requiremnts of Soldiers and Marines on the front line jobs of infantry, reconissance, artillery etc... preclude the vast majority of women. It’s silly to even debate this.

First thing we need to do is take this blithering idiot Sanchez to Afghanistan, put a helmet on her head, a flak jacket on her, and a rifle in her hands. Then, she gets to walk point into a mine field.

KA-BOOM!

Next Congressional moron, please?

Bingo! Men they kill... women they enslave. An American woman captured in waziristan would become a slave... a man either a political tool or beheaded. No women in combat... period.

Hasn’t been mentioned yet, but this could be stealth legislation aimed at dangling citizenship as an enticement for military service since many illegal aliens from mexico are women.

There was a scene in Full Metal Jacket where an enemy sniper had wounded a squad member out in the middle of a courtyard. As the soldier lay there screaming in pain, others in the squad couldn’t stand it and tried to rescue their buddy. Each time one of them tried to get to the wounded member, the sniper would take them out. Imagine that squad member being a female soldier out there screaming in agony. The one thing about this scene, was that the sniper was female, but she was defending what she felt was her homeland.

Women are NOT EQUAL on the battlefield.
Loretta Sanchez should shut her trap and go back to the kitchen and cook dinner for her husband.
Granted women can die with equality, but if you are in hand to hand combat or on a stealth mission where you have to overcome an enemy soldier, you can’t do it in a uniform that’s a petite size. Women lack the upper body strength for serious combat.

Exactly.

People need to read about the Okinawa campaign in WW II, and the tremendous physical effort required by soldiers and Marines to secure that island hill by hill. Pay special attention to the battles (plural) to take Sugar Loaf Hill.

While in VN, I served with one guy from Mexico and two guys from Canada.
I always assumed they did it just for the adventure, but IIRC, they were also eligible for US citizenship once they finished their enlistments.
I have no problem with that ... and more so if someone has done a tour in combat.
