Of course there’s an intellectual difference: marijuana litteraly grows like a weed in temperate zones and requires no processing or manufacturing.

We have given life sentences for the sale of small amounts of pot. How about focusing on murder and other serious crimes. Better use of tax dollars.

All the democrats have to do is run a moron who promises legal drugs and a sizable number of the electorate will follow them into the sea.

Name one (and it has to be the only charge)

Let’s all just take a moment and be happy Willie Nelson can still use two syllable words.

Considering that the Feds are borrowing 42 cents out of every dollar they are spending, American government needs to go on a severe diet. This looks like a good place to start.Diet? Nope. They've got uncontrollable munchies.

I meant about consumption, but you’re right there.

Frankly, it's hard to make an intellectually honest distinction between weed and alcohol, but in any event, talk about a peripheral issue. I can't believe given the magnitude of the fiscal issues at stake that this would be the basis for someones endorsement. The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter. - - - Winston Churchill
That's what's important to Willie and his friends. There's a lot of ignorant people out there. Enough to elect Obama in 08. Maybe enough to re-elect him in 12.

Sad... if Johnson was much harder on illegals, I’d consider this to be an asset.

We’ve already got an admitted doper sitting in the White House and that’s another liberal experiment that’s not working out so well.

I’m not sure how you got there from my post. I was talking about Willie Nelson, and only Willie Nelson.
Did you read my post?
Did it confuse you somehow?

Could also be read as Willie endorses “Small” tiny government. So do I and I think the drug war should be eliminated too. Go Willie!

I would not be opposed to legalizing marajuana and taxing it. That said, it isn’t exactly a pressing issue...
To: CharlyFord
Why is Gary Johnson even allowed in our debates? He has no prayer of winning, has only the tiniest bit of fringe support and every minute of conversation wasted on him is time real candidates can’t talk about the important issues this election will be about.

I agree. Johnson’s position on marijuana doesn’t bother me at all.
What bothers me about Johnson is his typical libertarian-leftwing views on immigration. It’s almost comical how libertarians think the welfare state can be dismantled while at the same time importing millions of users of it.
Culture War issues are another big problem with Johnson. If he would just say (convincingly) that he is personally pro-choice and pro-gay marriage, but he doesn’t in any way think that there is a Constitutional right to abortion or for homosexuals to have their unions receive state recognition, then it would be okay. If he were trustworthy on judges, if he would genuinely wish to nominate and fight for Scalia/Thomas/Alito/Roberts-type judges then I wouldn’t even care so much about his liberal social views.
But as it is, I’ve never heard him say anything that would make me think he would be good on judges.
