(CNSNews.com) America is at a crossroads and the Republican Party must show bold, courageous leadership at this moment to keep the country from sliding further down the path to European-style socialism, said Brent Bozell, chairman of ForAmerica, who added that, Its time the GOP step up or move aside.
The GOP leadership, and most especially its presidential candidates, need to get with the program, said Bozell in a post at the ForAmerica Web site on Wednesday. If the GOP is incapable of articulating a vision that returns America to Constitutional conservatism, then maybe conservatives should start thinking the unthinkable: a new party.
Bozell noted that the Founding Fathers faced a similar crossroads: submit to the British or fight back for freedom, individual responsibility and the pursuit of happiness. Today, he said, President Barack Obama and the radical Left are pushing America deeper into welfare state socialism through ObamaCare, bailouts, and calls from Democrats for trillions of dollars in new taxes to pay for evermore reckless federal spending.
The Republican Party, meanwhile, is gliding, said Bozell, with weak leadership by many senators and growing indecision in the House of Representatives despite the electoral victory in November 2010. In addition, some GOP leaders are issuing bold statements only to defend their own leftist records, or to attack the few Republicans who are putting forward serious proposals to save America, he said.
Conservatives are fed up with this nonsense, said Bozell. The American people do not want ObamaCare and they do not want NewtCare. The American people wholly reject the individual mandate [to buy health insurance], whether it comes from Barack Obama or Newt Gingrich.
Concerning the criticism leveled on Sundays Meet the Press by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich against current House Budget Chairman Paul Ryans (R-Wisc.) plan to reform Medicare and his budget for fiscal year 2012, Bozell said, Is the Ryan plan perfect? No -- but it is serious, and it is bold, and it is courageous, and it would reverse the slide to economic ruin and socialism set by President Obama. Paul Ryan deserves the highest applause from conservatives, but rather than acknowledge that he is busy pulling the arrows from his back.
There is no luxury of time to debate and discuss and, as usual, postpone the tough decisions, said Bozell. They are upon us. Will we continue on the path to European socialism, or will we once more be a nation based on individual freedom, a virtuous and principled society and limited government? Its time the GOP step up or move aside.
ForAmerica is a non-profit group organized to educate Americans about this countrys principles and values. Brent Bozell, in addition to being chairman of ForAmerica, is president of the Media Research Center, the parent company of CNSNews.com.
Indeed; very much so.
The Republican Party seems determined to become utterly irrelevant due it’s utter spineless-/ballless-ness.
As far as Bozell’s references to Europe’s socialism; as a Catholic, he ought to know that the church doesn’t have a problem with it.
The gutless republicans will neither step up nor step aside. They will continue down their cowardly path to their destruction, and ours.
You’re a moron.
Brent’s right on the mark. I am totally against a third party, but if we cannot get the RINO’s, the Leftist’s the “H” out of the leadership of the Republican Party, then we aren’t going to win back this government any faster than it would take to secure the people’s confidence in a third party.
So flame away.
Sorry Brent, that train left the station decades ago.
Yes...I’m also against a third party but we have to take the GOP back or do something different. What’s been going on isn’t working but I’m for giving it a little more time to get a conservative in the WH.
_____________
Vote for Scotty McCreery on American Idol. Make the Libs heads explode! (The 17 year old singing sensation made the unforgivable mistake of kissing the cross he wears around his neck and singing a song mentioning Jesus. Libs are flaming him all over the net)
.
WTF? I am winning the future here, who gives a rat’s ass what the Europeans think?
The only Catholics/Christians left in Europe are in Rome.
The rest are being sucker punched by the ROP!
Buzz off.
All the GOP hierarchy cares about is keeping their fat butts fat!
Is that you, Nancy Pelosi . . . ?
WTF? I am winning the future here, who gives a rats ass what the Europeans think? The only Catholics/Christians left in Europe are in Rome. The rest are being sucker punched by the ROP! Buzz off.
You must be a liberal then.
Youre a moron
If the Pubbies were remotely serious about being conservative, they would immediately close all primaries to voters not registered as Republicans. As it is, the primary in NH is still open. That’s what stuck us with loser McCain, and Romney is likely to win there as a result.
Though, I get nervous when he writes. He is a good guy, but it seems he gets a little iron fisted on TV shows. Granted there is plenty of cultural rot, but I like shows with darker material
...and you must belong to the KKK
>>from sliding further down the path to European-style socialism
It’s a little late for that. Now, we’re just trying to keep from sliding off into becoming like Zimbabwe or the Weimar Republic.
Sadly, I doubt you could be more right.
That’s what I’m keying on, open primaries are a loser!
If we don’t shut the dems down this time around, There won’t be a need for a third party, it will be too late!
Gop, It’s time to play “king of the hill” for keeps and run the commies out of all our public offices!
