Indiana’s Republican governor cites family in decision to not seek nomination
Gov. Daniels not running for president
BY PHILIP ELLIOTT Associated Press | Posted: Sunday, May 22, 2011 6:15 am
WASHINGTON | Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels said early Sunday that he won’t run for president because of family concerns, a development that narrowed the Republican nomination field though made the wide-open race even more uncertain.
“In the end, I was able to resolve every competing consideration but one,” the Republican said, disclosing his decision in a middle-of-the-night e-mail to supporters. “The interests and wishes of my family, is the most important consideration of all. If I have disappointed you, I will always be sorry.”
Translation:
Wife said NO. I have to live with her; you don’t.
That won’t happen.
Looking like Sarah, Herman and the Robot...
Correct, but I don’t think Sarah’s actually going to run. She’s got to be doing the math and it’s been very hard for her and her family already. One good thing is her dirty laundry’s out already, the bad thing is the media hate her. That’s hard to overcome.
How will blacks respond to a black on the bottom of the Republican ticket?
Cheers!
Good grief - you gotta get past your “color of skin” racism and allow the VP’s beliefs & “content of character” speak for themselves.
One less.
Thanks for the highlights. What a mess. Sounds like one of those candidates the dems/media tell us would be a formidable opponent for the won.
There seems to be a larger factor at work here in regards to the number of potential candidates who are deciding against running. Is it the all powerful Obama Pit Bull MSM? Is there one potential Republican candidate who will suck all the air from others? Is it a case of despair of a coming disaster in the next Presidential term? Or, is it a case of internal polling indicating no one can beat Obama in 2012?
I don't even have a best guess to a reason. But, with apologies to those who support other candidates, it's appearing more likely that a Palin nomination is the only chance for a Conservative victory next year.
I would hope if it got that far that one of them would back out and endorse the other for the good of the country. Then again, only one has announced their candidacy at this point.
Heaven knows he couldn’t compete with Cain on the passion & personality scale!
Thanks. Not surprised. The Establishment will likely make one more hard run at Chris Christie and then the main event, the one which was always going to be, Palin v. Romney can get underway.
The divorce remarriage issue isn’t all that bad, but it might make her look bad or unstable. If the whole family is opposed though, that would be hard to overcome. You’d think he would have checked with them before publicly suggesting that he might run.
The conservative and Pubbie pres. field is sorting out. A very good thing. Way too early to predict who the final four will be.
Think of all the White House weddings we will miss!
I thought his comment “ I love my country , but I love my family more.” was one of the stupidest lines I ever heard!
There are a thousand ways he could have said that.Yeesh.
////btw I never liked him and his snarkiness and sarcastic attitude would never have worn well. Now , I think his attitude was anger that he couldn’t run.
