The UK is to send helicopters to Libya following similar announcements by France.
Britain and France are to deploy attack helicopters against Libya in an attempt to break the military stalemate, particularly in the important coastal city of Misrata, security sources have told the Guardian.
In a significant escalation of the conflict, the Apaches – based on HMS Ocean – will join French helicopters in risky operations which reflect deepening frustration among British and French defence chiefs about their continuing inability to protect civilians.
Apaches, which are being used in counter insurgency operations in Afghanistan, can manoeuvre and attack small targets in relatively built-up areas. Heavily-armed Apaches and French Tiger helicopters are equipped with night vision equipment and electronic guidance systems.
Gaddafi forces have shed their uniforms, are using civilian vehicles and hiding armour near civilian buildings, including hospitals and schools.
The decision to deploy the helicopters is a clear recognition that high-level bombing from 15,000 feet cannot protect civilians who continue to be attacked by rocket and mortar shells. It brings the Nato offensive much closer to the ground at a time when Britain and other Nato countries are insisting they have no intention of sending in troops.
However, the helicopters could be vulnerable to hand-held rocket propelled grenades and even rifle fire.

well said but you forgot to mention that obama sent a letter to congress saying he does not need congress to vote on this as we are there in a limited role.

Why is the GOP not screaming about this letter and congress being put out ?
Why is the GOP not demanding a vote and then defund this?
Why is the GOP not taking on this George Soros paid off biased media and telling them why they are not covering this?

I know this sounds idiotic, but . . . What if our commander-in-chief had decided to unleash our military against Israel? Or Greece? Or any country of his arbitrary choice? What’s the difference?
Some would say he doesn’t have the authority. But as you point out, he certainly doesn’t have the authority to send our planes, drones and military into Libya for Qadafi.
Or for that matter, to arbitrarily award 2 billion dollars to Egypt, which will probably be spent by Muslim Brotherhood terrorists.
Our RINOs in Congress need to exercise their sworn duty and provide checks and balances. We must stop Obama.

Yeah something tells me that if Bush did this it’s all we’d be hearing about on the news. If the unemployment rate were 10 percent it’s all be hearing about if Bush were in office. Hell if the unemployment rate shot up to almost 25 percent while Bush was in office (like it has now with Obama) the media and entertainers would be saying how much Bush “hates black people”. It is sickening how the media in this country is behaving.

The biggest enemy IMHO is the media, they have been awful in their bias, just this trip alone he has made so many gaffs and yet nothing hardly.
I’m sick and tired of it and we know we have a problem when most people we talk to have never heard of what is going on.
