Betty White stars as the new face of AARP
Daily Caller ^ | 5/24/11

At nearly 90 years old, Betty White has a message for senior citizens: get over it. The Golden Girls star can be seen stressing that age really isn’t a big deal in her promotional videos for AARP.

Age shouldn’t be a deciding factor when voting for politicians either, the starlet told Politico in an interview Monday.

“I think it’s mental activity and physical health that should have a lot to do with it, not just the number of years,” White said.

For White, the age of the politician doesn’t necessarily make them an incapable public servant.

“I think someone’s health is more pertinent to a political career then age [is],” White said.

In her most recent video, White urged those nearing an over-the-hill mark to join AARP.

“If you’re 50 or older and hesitant to join AARP because you think it makes you look old, I have a very important message for you. Get over it!” White said in the video.

I used to think fairly well of Betty White, but the tiresome schtick of “old lady uttering foul language and sexual innuendos” that she’s dived into in recent years has pretty much soured me on her. Weak sauce. Any oldster can get cheap whoops and hollers with such lame fare. She was more gifted than that, so it’s been rather depressing seeing her wallow down in those comedic depths.

AARP? Eh, bad. But not nearly as reprehensible as Andy Griffith trying to sell Obamacare. He can go burn in hell for that. And this from someone who was an old, long-time fan of “The Andy Griffith Show,” and threw out my dvd’s of the show, and haven’t watched a single second of a rerun since.

Agreed. One of my recent disappointments was learning Dick Van Dyke thinks Obama is fantastic...

“CNN: Let me change gears. Michelle Obama has said that “The Dick Van Dyke Show” is one of her favorite shows.

Van Dyke: I’ve heard that, and I sent them a note and said, “Thank you for making me famous all over again.” I call them the black Rob and Laura.”

Someone who thinks Michelle is a black version of a young MTM needs glasses...and a second brain cell.

I used to like her but now..... Not So Much. She shows older womanhood in a bad light as far as I’m concerend. And I know some wonderful funny, smart and sexy older women, even older than her. She has taken the “trash” route.

A complementary AARP membership came...

How fitting for them doing this from a seed catalog. Its like AARP was trying to plant their own socialist seed in your daughter's brain.

Very few Hollywood types aren’t commies. Why should she be anything different from her cohorts?

www.AmericanSeniors.org is an interesting alternative to AARP. Pro Tea Party, NRA, etc. The group seems to be gaining strength.

My still living mother is older than Betty White and a whole lot smarter.

I’m somewhat older than yourself and was receiving their propaganda on a weekly basis. I called them and said if they sent me one more piece of mail I’d file for harrassment. Nothing since.

Daughter is in her 30s now, still laughs about it. Her elementary teacher was a member, back then, and they joked about being in the same club.

She wrote them a note and said, “Not every gardener is a senior citizen!”

I like Betty, but I stopped my AARP membership a number of years ago when their motivation became obvious. They are nothing more than a left wing lobbying organization which derives it revenues from government grants and for fronting for health insurance and other companies from which they are paid substantial commissions.

They do not represent their membership. In fact, their positions are usually at odds with their members’ self interest. Plus, the insurance policies they front for are no bargains. Comparable insurance usually can be had for less money elsewhere.

It worked for me the first try!

I wrote with bloody red lipstick in big letters like a Manson crime scene:

NO TO OBAMACARE!

REMOVE MY NAME NOW!

And never from them again, even once.

Just got hubby’s ultra sound bill (gall bladder, small gall stone) in...just over a $ GRAND. Medicare paid about $60.00. Yes you read that right. Tricare (retired over 65 Military secondary to Medicare) will pick up about $35.00. No wonder docs are turning us away. And if they do take you that is all they get.

And 0’care will pay them even less, equaling less health care for seniors.

That's why seniors are screwed. When they vote for $hit like this, they don't have the right to complain when their "greedy" doctor won't see them any more and they'll have to drive 100 miles to see some J-1 visa provider.

I wonder what your plumber would do if you offered to pay him $20 when his fee is $150. My suspicion is he'd say: "uh, no, but good luck in your search for one who will".

Which is what I’ve been saying all along. When Medicare pays so little, then those on private ins rates go up, and it drives up the cost of medical care. And under 0’care it will get worse, because they plan to pay them even less. And ration more services.

I have non diabetic caused Peripheral Neuropathy, caused by my Fibromyalgia, Medicare/Tricare covers the doc and the testing, but won’t cover the RX orthotics. I WAS QUITE HAPPY to shell out the $315 for them and another $180 for the shoes. My feet and legs are much improved.

Now I have the diabetes ass. calling every few weeks wanting to sign me up! Peripheral Neuropathy is common in diabetics. which I an NOT. LOL

when they did the cataract I’d of paid the difference in the plain lens which they will pay for, and a lens that corrected my bad astigmatism so I would not need to buy a new pair of glasses every year. That is about $500 with the Zeiss lenses and new frame, because mine are worn out in a year. I can’t wear cheap chain store multi focal no line lenses they restrict my vision field. Zeiss are the best on the market with the widest vision field available.

Pay my own dental because I rarely need more than a cleaning or 1 crown reattached every 6 months.

This is congress’ mess, they built it into the system greasing palms of donors. Both sides are guilty. Renting long term use items, instead of buying them out right, doubles the cost.

Strange doc scamming the Medicare system coming into your hospital room, says hi, is there 15 seconds or so, bills Medicare. We should have a form that we sign that says only our doc, and specialist he orders are allowed in, unless it is an emergency.

FDA approves drugs that have to be multiple piggy backed to counter side effects, pretty soon you are on 20 different drugs, and if they are the new ones very expensive.

Did you know the drug Lyrica has a 50% FAILURE rate (per my Primary Care who was a pain clinic specialist once upon a time) due to the very nasty, horrid side effects? The few that can take it, take other drugs for the side effects. Google it.

And all generics are NOT equal to the name brand. Fillers are different, they cause side effects you don’t want. Some just don’t work as well, which means extra blood work through out the year. Instead of twice a year you have to be tested 4 times a year to see if the under functional generic is doing it’s job. Took me less than a week to know the generic for Syntroid was a crappy sub for the name brand. Difference is $22 vs $14.
