I heard on Fox we have a replacement for Adm Mullen? found no thread here.
Just as a guess:
He doesn’t add an “s” where it isn’t needed and he can capitalize properly.
Like I said, this is just a guess. Likely only one reason of many.
But it’s probably the primary reason you didn’t get the job.
HA!
My typos have kept me from many of these high level positions...!
Gen. Martin Dempsey

WASHINGTON (AP) — A general installed just last month as the Army’s top officer is President Barack Obama’s surprise choice to become the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, two people familiar with the selection process said Wednesday.
Gen. Martin Dempsey, an accomplished veteran of the Iraq war, would succeed Navy Adm. Mike Mullen as the president’s top military adviser when Mullen’s term as chairman ends Sept. 30. Dempsey would have to be confirmed by the Senate.
LOL! Thanks: hUmbleGunners.
thanks...
there are many reasons Obozo picked him....Muslim mother? ha/.just kidding.
GEN Dempsey was just recently reassigned from HQ TRADOC (where he was CG TRADOC) to be the Army Chief of Staff.
I have a friend who interacts with GEN Dempsey fairly frequently who has nothing but good things to say about the general.
The problem is that we still the same CINC.
Well..that sounds good then...the CIC is the destroying factor as we have seen...
Did you mean the “Chief Staffs of Joint” by chance...
Is that you Rita X...?
Is this me...??
the Chief of Staff at the joint!
ha..I have obviously had wayyyy too much Starbucks today!
General Dempsey has a very good reputation within the Army as a great leader. His selection as Army Chief of Staff was widely welcomed as the expectation is that he would lead a much needed reform effort within the Army. As Chairman, he won’t be able to do that, he will have to implement the Administration’s defense policy and support Secretary Panetta. It will be a tough and thankless job.
OMG/!!!
I am shocked and insulted that I — aloyal Freeper and Patriot—would even remotely be referred to a Rita X...ha!
“much needed reform effort within the Army”
And what does that mean?? What is that “reform” effort all about??
The Army is worn out after 10 years of war. Frequent deployments, neglect of stateside infrastructure and training, leadership issues resulting from having to promote mediocre officers and NCOs to fill critical vacancies. All of this and many other things need fixing and Dempsey was the man to do it.
The Army also has, serious problems because of the multiple deployments, the bizzare Rules of Engagement in a sureal war against insurgents within a population, and nation building there are significant issues for the returning vets of PTSD, substance abuse, family problems, employment problems and high suicide rates.
Lets hope this general also deals with this horrendous fallout and either steps up to create within DOD for better treatment of the veterans immediately upon coming out of service and put increasing pressure on the VA to INCREASE all services.
To have a 3 month waiting list for a vet to get into resdiential PTSD treatment in appalling!
Perhaps, but don't be too quick to reach a judgement.
Time will tell soon enough.
The Department of Defense is a separate organization from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Thanks. I appreciate your response, and I hope others do as well. Details matter; in fact details inform but code words, like “reform” do not.
