Michigan Walgreens Pharmacist Jeremy Hoven Fired After Shooting at Robbers
abc news ^

Posted on 05/28/2011 2:57:28 PM PDT by Mount Athos

In Benton Township, Michigan, two armed robbers wearing masks burst into a near-deserted Walgreens at 4:30 a.m.

Drawing his own gun, he fired at the attackers and drove them off, saving not just himself but two Walgreens co-workers.

By way of saying thanks, Walgreens fired him last week.

Township police Lt. Delman Lange, after reviewing surveillance video, told the local paper, "If it was me, I would have done the same thing."

Kosick says local residents are solidly behind his client. "I'd say 95 percent are in favor of what he did. It's really outraged people. Not just gun advocates but people on the street. They stop and tell me they'd have done the same thing, only they wouldn't have missed. They're outraged by what Walgreen has done. They're talking boycott, saying they will take their business to CVS or Wal-Mart."

Beck talked about this the other day. Apparently CVS cited OSHA rules as one of their reasons for firing the guy.

Think about that for a minute.

Apparently its not an occupational hazard to get shot at work but it is a hazard to shoot at a robber.

Sue OSHA and Walgreens!

You are under NO OBLIGATION to be a victim!

“Oh, so you’d be happier with 5 dead employees and customers, because being vulnerable is your idea of “Occupational Safety”???

Work at walgreens and take your life in your hands. These companies figure that the lambs that work for them are expendable because of scumbag bottom feeder liars would sue for killing a sumbitch that really needed killing.

>>Work at walgreens and take your life in your hands.

Work almost anywhere in America and the same rules apply. Your employer would rather cry at your funeral than risk the liablity of you shooting a scumbag, who will be portrayed on the news as a choir boy who loved his mom and wanted to be a doctor and cure cancer some day.

A company the size of Walgreen’s isn’t going to take on the liability invovled with allowing employees to carry guns...they’d have to take steps to ensure that employees taking firearms to work are going to be responsible with them...they’d also have to deal with increased insurance costs from having guns around.

I would probably take a gun to work with me if I were pulling overnight duty in a pharmacy...but I’d also expect to deal with the consequences.

I loved Jason in “The Expendables” especially the scene where he went to take care of the guy who was abusing his girlfriend.

I was laughing at the VIDEO in the link where the robber actually got caught by a cop in the line. Unbelievable.

Walgreens is a very liberal organization. It sponsored the Gay Olympics in Chicago a few years ago.
