They tackle nothing truly significant or meaningful (thankfully)

Believe that at the peril of our future and the country. Think back 20-30 years when we mocked PC speak and ideas as something goofy and inconsequential. Now, our country is at risk daily, and US service members are killed, all in the name of Political Correctness.

Note also that it says: Eat Liberally....................

HA! Yes, they could only muster enough strength to write "Moderate" with the phrase for 'Conservatively' being "Sparingly"

I'm a Sparingly American - lol

gee I’m glad mommy and daddy government are there to tell me what to eat. I’m sure I couldn’t have figured it out otherwise. /puke

People who care what they eat already know what they should and should not eat.

People who don’t care will ignore this stupid pyramid like they’ve done for their entire life.

If the pursuit of happiness to one is finding the perfect chocolate chip cookie, then good for them!

That pursuit in this house is brownies, and I usually make them on Tuesday........the yung'un takes them to share with her car pool group. I told her last night there would be none today --- it is just too bloody hot to even think about turning on the overn.

Yum... brownies! On a cooler day, double the batch and freeze them. I have a feeling the carpool is going to be very, very disappointed.

“... I prefer turducken”

Isn’t that where they stuff a chicken inside a duck inside a turkey? Yum... meat.

Nuke them from orbit. It is the only way to be sure they are done!

My grandfather over planted Zucchini one year. We were eating zucchini ice cream/bread/fried whatever a year later.

Never again.

DUH!!!!!!! I don’t know why I never thought to do that.

They usually pack their “dinner,” but she said they were “eating out” tonight and so it was ok about the brownies.

It’s really nice just living down the road from the dance studio owner who is also grandma to one of my daughter’s friends. The studio owner picks her up ever Tuesday and brings her home, thus saving me the 30 mile round trip. I figure a batch of brownies is the least I can as a way of thanks!

IMHO, nothing says “thank you” more than a plate of home baked goodies. Although I think Red Badger is going to start giving out thank you’s with bags of zuchinis.

Well, that IS good news, but I just wonder what they’ll replace it with? The food pyramid is nearly upside down. If people ate more meat and cheese (fats) they’d be a lot fuller for the long run and eat less over time. We have an all protein/fat breakfast. It lasts to nearly 3-4 PM. We can cut out lunch, and if we just want something, we eat some fruit or an apple with peanut butter, something similar. I am not usually all that hungry for dinner, but still tend to eat more of it than I should, but am cutting back steadily. We eat lots of eggs! Both our cholesterol levels are way down and our HDL is 2x the level of the LDL. The doc did a ultrasound to see if I had plaque in the carotids and nada! YAY! He said he would not believe it for my age, but our everyday diet really works. Both my grandfathers died of stroke and heart attack, so I have been quite diligent to cut out most breads, cakes, etc. It is not that hard to eat well. Diets high in carbs tend to push your cholesterol levels up, as does the low fat diets, which seem to work for about 3 months, then have a disastrous turn and the cholesterol goes up higher than before. As an RN, I have been horrified by the food pyramid, as it is not healthy. But, like I said, I wonder what Michelle will replace it with? I don’t have confidence that it will be any better, really. We’ll see.

The real food advice metaphor should be a treasure chest and a dumpster.

The treasure chest contains lots of meat, nuts, eggs, oils, butter, vegetables, fruit, and dairy. All minimally processed.

The dumpster contains sweets (especially corn oil), processed “food” (especially processed fats), and white starches like bread, rice, pasta, and potatoes.

But the corn lobby and the rest of the junk food world wouldn’t stand for it.

We moved to our new house in July 2002. We thought the neighborhood was devoid of children because we never saw any playing in the streets or riding bikes or walking to the corner store.
Then we had Hurricane Ivan in 2004.
Electricity was out for a week.
There were kids all over the place! hundreds of them!
Then the electricity was restored and they all disappeared again.............

That’s a powerful story.

The Federal Government should not be paying for anyone (other than the military’s) healthcare.

I agree, and see no reason why the fed can’t pay military adequate salaries to let them buy their own insurance on the open market.
