Chasing Sarah: The Boys Behind the Bus
The National Review ^ | June 1, 2011 | Michelle Malkin

Posted on 06/01/2011 2:42:15 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Palin is rubbing the media mob’s sense of entitlement right back in its face.

In the 1970s, The Boys on the Bus exposed how a clubby pack of male political reporters ruled the road to the White House and shaped the news. Four decades later, an outsider gal from Alaska has commandeered the 2012 media bus — and left Beltway journalism insiders eating her dust. We’ve come a long way, baby.

Amid frenzied speculation over her potential presidential-campaign plans, former GOP Alaska governor Sarah Palin launched an all-American road trip with her family this Memorial Day weekend. Establishment media types didn’t get reserved seats or advance notice of her itinerary. Palin rubbed the Washington media mob’s institutional sense of entitlement right back in its face. “I don’t think I owe anything to the mainstream media. I want them to have to do a little bit of work on a tour like this,” she jabbed.

[snip -- good stuff]

The Atlantic’s Garance Franke-Ruta griped that “reality TV star Palin” was “treating pol reporters like paparazzi — needing and hating, inviting and making chase.” Perhaps Franke-Ruta needs a reminder of what a truly parasitic press-pol relationship looks like. I have stacks of Obama 2008 profiles exulting over his glistening pecs and soaring oratorical skills, followed by countless spurned-lover laments from reporters disappointed about the control freaks who stage-manage his every press appearance.

What makes Sarah stand out in the national GOP field is that she is beholden to no one and controls her own destiny. She doesn’t need media kingmakers to make her. They need her. She doesn’t need newspaper or TV producers to drive her story. She drives them. Crazy.

The unhinged reaction of the Palin-hating convoy reveals what its attendants fear most: a politician who doesn’t fear them.

““Prince Harry and Prince William” Their father, however, is a complete droid.
The reason for that is not far to seek. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Prince Philip’s lips move.”

You mean the British “stiff upper lip”???????????

This is rich.......Sarah will be instructive while the MSM will be self-destructive.

Palin's instincts and timing are very good. I like Michele Bachmann and her passion, pluck and politics but she just doesn't have Palin's gut instincts, good timing and political skill.

Then too, there is another GOP candidate, Tim Pawlenty, who hails from Minnesota. How much Minnesota support and campaign cash is there to grease all those wheels? I guess some would say that Michele Bachmann is an Iowan. No?

Prince Phillip is the GRANDfather of William and Harry. Not their father. Dad is Prince Charles. [And yes, he spoke to a few too many plants.]

What makes Sarah stand out in the national GOP field is that she is beholden to no one and controls her own destiny

I would add that she is beholden to her Creator. She loves the Nation of her birth. She cherishes her husband and her family.

And by all accounts, Sarahcuda is fearless! The one time she let her guard down was with the perky one over those stupid little inferences that the hick from Alaska never read anything of substance. [At least that is my read on her question "When it comes to establishing your worldview, I was curious, what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this to stay informed and to understand the world?"]

You know, what do you read besides "Guns & Ammo"?

Remember that Lady Palin is a journalism major. She knows that the DC Press is not digging for the news. They are lazy, and are so used to being spoon-fed the daily reports from news releases. Thus, an exact same phrase being repeated by nearly every media voice on a news topic. You would think that an editor could at least learn to reword the news release to make it sound at least a little more original. But, no! They repeat it word for word. After years of doing that, do you think they even take the effort to fact-check any more?

The answer if very evident. Mr. Obama was never vetted to prove his full qualifications for the office, and the poor attempt to throw out a facisimile representation of proof, shot to pieces by so many, was just further evidence of their complete bias, that the MSM has proven they do not have the best intentions for our Nation. Even little Piper knows that, running down-field blocking for her MaMa. Actually she set a fairly good post [in basketball terms] allowing her Mom some space, while the reporter should have been called for a charging foul.

Even little Piper is showing she can also be fearless, thus the comment yesterday by Todd - "This family has been tested!"

.....Dad is Prince Charles. [And yes, he spoke to a few too many plants.]

And all of his automobiles have been converted to use renewable energy.

Can we all say, King William?

Great points!

For me, I see the msm as an advocacy machine for socialists aka democrats/elites. They do not report the news, they are there to shape public opinion and move our country as far left as possible.

"I..hope that ...one don't...get in a crash"??? I could have a lot more respect for these "jorurnalists" if they could learn middle school english.

Do they even teach English in middle school these days?

Education inflation: what every eighth-grade graduate knew 100 years ago, now is only taught in college.
