Krauthammer: Palin "Not Schooled" In Policy; Doesn't Know She Needs It
Real Clear Politics ^ | June 1, 2011 | Charles Krauthammer

Posted on 06/01/2011 9:43:57 AM PDT by Rennes Templar

FOX News contributor Charles Krauthammer gives his take on what a "Washington establishment elitist" thinks of a potential Sarah Palin run for the presidency. In self-deprecating fashion, Krauthammer says he wears Palin's "hoity-toity" comment as a badge of honor.

"She is very smart and adept. Great political instincts and is a star. The problem with her, I think, is that she is not schooled. I don't mean she didn't go to the right schools. I mean when you get into policy, beyond instincts -- I like her political instincts, I like her political overall view of the world -- but when it comes to policy, she had two-and-a-half years to school herself and she hasn't and that's a problem," Charles Krauthammer told Bill O'Reilly on Tuesday. "It's not only the lack of schooling, it's the lack of effort to school herself and the lack of insight to see that she needs it."

You and Charles may not have noticed, but Sarah has been commenting on foreign issues ALL THE TIME lately. Bob

Don’t understand why everyone gets all upset when someone levels any kind of criticism at Palin. It’s just one man’s opinion.

Worst of all, Palin seems to have defended the killing of women and children in the name of getting terrorists.

Really? Where does one go to get schooled to believe in such dumbassery?

***The problem with her, I think, is that she is not schooled.***

The news media claimed Reagan was not “erudite” enough to be President.

I personally wouldn’t go so far as to call him an Xtian-H8ter...

But he definitely has some real lingering resentment towards female Christian Conservatives (especially attractive ones- Palin, Bachmann, etc.)...

You have to be able to surround yourself with excellent people AND know enough to know when they are giving you excellent advice.

Krauthammer must not be aware of the KISS doctrine: Keep It Simple Stupid.

Nebulous "schooling" on superfluous "policy" is not necessary if you follow the Constitution.

The total Federal budget should be between $500-$750Bn, and more than 75% of what Fedzilla does now should be eliminated and/or left to the States to continue or not.

No "schooling" on "policy" required.

With this followup to his and Will’s Sunday attacks, it appears Krauthammer senses that all-out attack right now is the only hope they have of stopping this juggernaut. They will not back off.

You are damned straight she is... krauthammer is a fakir. He is dumb enough to have voted for obama... there is no way that he could say the things that he said on election night if he hadn't. He wrote speeches for mondull and catah and attacked Reagan in those speeches... claimed the same things about Reagan that he does about Palin. I despise that rat bastard liberal dim... and he is a dim... born to dims... educated by dims... and votes with dims.

. . . when it comes to policy, she had two-and-a-half years to school herself and she hasn't and that's a problem . . .

Before you flame me for agreeing, please read my last few hundred posts, almost all of which have been strongly pro-Palin. When Palin announces (not "if"), I will donate the maximum legal amount to her campaign. When she announces, I will work for her campaign every moment that I can spare, and I will do everything I can to make that as much time as possible, consistent with the needs of my family, work is not an issue since I can take the year off, but family comes first. When she announces, I will devote several hours each day to posting pro-Palin comments on news sites and discussion boards to present her positions in context and promote thoughtful consideration of her pro-freedom, pro-America, pro-responsibility positions.

That said, I think Krauthammer has, probably by accident, hit a valid point. It really is not enough to know the right thing, which Sarah knows. Given the sophistication of the evil we face, our leader must know the strategies of the other side. Sarah really does have to study policy in its current form to learn how the far left fringe uses the machinery of the system to wear us down and score a win even when most of America opposes their agenda.

I'd like to see Sarah spend two or three hours a day for a week or more, reading a current textbook on social policy or educational policy and discussing the contents with her family and advisers. It will make her blood boil, but it will make her a more capable leader. At best we will have eight years with her as the leader of the free world, and I want her as ready as possible before that clock starts ticking. I want her prepared, not only to do the right things as decisions come to her desk, but also to reach out into the monster that our government has become and bring policy back under control. How does Krauthammer know she hasn't done this, and why do I assume he is right? Krauthammer doesn't know for sure, but I have seen no signs of such study on her part, and I believe those who have studied policy would have seen the signs. If she's sandbagging, holding back that knowledge, then I am impressed. Otherwise, she needs to make sure she knows what Krauthammer is talking about, because he has a point.

You’re probably right, but I don’t know a lot about him and didn’t get all that from the article. I know who he is, of course, and have read many articles but nothing that gave me the impression he was a bad person.

I wish Charles would run for president.

He is correct about her not taking advantage of these past couple of years to educate herself more, especially, on foreign policy.

However, I will still vote for someone with the right set of principles over someone with all the policy education in the world who is unprincipled.

I'll still take Sarah over ANY of the establishment Republicans. I do not consider Bachmann an establishment Republican.

I don’t thing anyone is really talking about that.

My personal belief is that her interview with Katie Couric really taught Sarah a lesson about the need to have a good understanding of things like policies or world events, cultures or whatever. Having charm, personality, wit is just not enough, if you’re going to play in Washington.

It wouldn’t surprise me if she has since subscribed to a magazine or two since then.

And of course, O’Rielly knows everything. I wonder if there’s anyone in the world who knows more than him.

“The Krauth is a neo-con whore”

That he is. Perhaps he can get his friend George Will to host another dinner for Barky and the rest of the beltway “conservative” pundits so that they can discuss how stupid Palin is amongst themselves.

Seems DC’s “best and brightest” have led this country to the point of destruction. Perhaps it’s time for someone normal to be the President.

I'm with you on this. Frankly, I am sick and tired of being lorded over by "The Schooled". It is "The Schooled" that have gotten us in this mess and it will take good honest hard working common sense folks to get us out of it.

No more being fooled by The Schooled!
