RALEIGH, N.C. A federal indictment is looming for former presidential candidate John Edwards, who is still sitting on $2.8 million in his campaign fund from 2008. Whether he could use that money to fight potential criminal charges depends on the Federal Elections Commission, which makes recommendations on a case-by-case basis.
...
Edwards will have little recourse to rehabilitate his image and renew his legal career if confronted with charges involving the money used to cover up his extramarital affair.
A plea to a felony charge involving campaign finances could strip him of his law license, ending any hope he could work as an attorney. And a trial would mean more sordid stories about his campaign affair and the child he fathered, further battering his reputation.
Even if he were to win the case, it appears the 2004 Democratic vice presidential nominee would do so by making a humiliating argument: that money used to keep his mistress and out-of-wedlock child in hiding was intended to shield the affair from his cancer-stricken wife not to aid his candidacy, which is what prosecutors believe.

Probably? LOL.
If you aren’t a Rat, Edwards never had any credibility.
If you are a Rat, nothing he has done in his personal life matters. And if there is a question about whether something is private or public, its always private if the outcome can be bad.
I thought the same thing when I saw that headline!
Here’s the thing...in a political year like 2012...he could be hired by CBS to stand around and gab on political primaries. That’s the sad thing about America....we can’t let a good guy like him just lie that.
Gee, he seemed like such a nice guy.
He and his wife liked to eat and Wendy’s.
Di you know his Daddy worked in a Meel?
A statement that makes you think about this sign at Death Valley
Just your typical douchebag Dem.Nothing unexpected.
After declaring an end to these as yet incurable ailments, Edwards further politicized the issue by using the untimely death of actor Christopher Reeve on Sunday, who had promoted stem cell research as a means for curing spinal cord injuries, by making another unprecedented campaign promise.
“America just lost a great champion for this cause in Christopher Reeve,” Edwards recalled. “People like Chris Reeve will get out of their wheelchairs and walk again...
and people voted for this azzhat in droves. The dumbest electorate in history..
The headline! Nor irony allowed here, no way! How very funny. Also: winner of the No $**t Sherlock Award.
Oh this guy will be back. Edwards is a pure political animal. He is a natural liar and has no shame whatsoever. Just when you think he is gone, this guy will be peddling a tell-all confession book and trying to rehabilitate himself. America is celebrity obsessed nation nowadays, I have no doubt he will have a huge audience once he launches his come back tour.
Maybe the “Weiner” will call him up and “speak” to him.
Please cue Captain Obvious
“Probably”
That’s a bold, going-out-on-a-limb statement...
Who knows,
Had it not been for Edwards breck girl moment the maggot may have become pres.
Being a medical malpractice trial lawyer who channeled dead babies in the courtroom, a barely elected one term senator who thought so much of himself he ran for President, and ran on a totally transparent, phony, class division platform of Two Americas, while primping and preening and spending hours on his hair ... that was his reputation.
What was there to ruin? And why was anyone surprised that he was he screwed around on his wife and paid (other people’s) money under the table for his bastard child.
It is all perfectly consistent, and none of it would surprise anyone who didn’t already have their head up their (democrat) ass.
That is correct, he IS a lawyer.
