Jack Kevorkian, why did he live so long?
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 6/3/11 | Debra J. Saunders

Posted on 06/03/2011 10:50:23 AM PDT by SmithL

Jack Kevorkian and his supporters portrayed the death doc as a compassionate man who offered "death with dignity" to individuals suffering from a poor quality of life. I always saw him as a man who preyed on vulnerable individuals by telling them their lives weren't worth living -- as I watched Kevorkian survive over the years, despite medical problems that dwarfed those of many of his victims.

In 2007, I wrote:

Fans of Kevorkian ought to be asking themselves: In that the ailing Kevorkian is in worse physical shape than many of the people whose lives he helped snuff out, why hasn't the death doc used his vaunted "medicide" on himself? . . .

Well, thanks for letting me know that you’re a potential murderer.

Are you aware that God has commanded you not to commit murder?

Damn straight...and yet there are those hereon who take issue with your position but prattle on about “freedom”. I guess they mean except for when they want to impose their belief system on everyone else.

Freedom for me; but not for thee

FR is not free from hypocrites. For example, I own a handgun; I don't care if you do or do not. I eat meat, I don't care if you do, or do not. I like to travel - what you do is your business, not mine.

But for a vast majority; they demand that everyone else conform to their moral 'authority' while protesting that the Libtards are forcing them to accept the Libtard agenda. Same arrogant people, same attitude, just a different agenda. I guess they are 'smarter' than us ordinary folk; they demand that they make the decisions that we just aren't wise enough to understand. Stalin thought that way, Hitler thought that way, Obama thinks that way - and more than a couple FReepers do too.

What do you expect from a troll who believes Islam and Satanism are just as valid as Christianity:

From hodar's FR homepage:

For each of us has our own religion, and interpretations; Buddhist, Muslim, Atheist, Christian, Jewish, Wicca and Satanic are all equal under the laws of the land.

There is a vast gulf of difference between someone voluntarily committing suicide BY THEMSELVES and people killing other people.

Anyone who wants to can right now kill themselves. Getting other people - “doctors” - involved in killing them in the name of “assisted suicide” is Nanny Statism writ large. People promoting it just want the government involved in their own personal decisions. They want the gov stamp of approval on their acts, it’s a way of avoiding personal responsibility.

Your prattle about “freedom” really means “I want Big Mommy Government to put the stamp of approval on a private decision and make it all okay”.

Disgusting hypocrites is what you are.

So people opposed to Big Nanny Government authorizing and regulating doctors killing people are now like Hitler and 0bama.

Okay.

Are you really that dense? Tell me you are joking.

EVERYONE is a potential murderer .... under the right circumstances, when your back is against the wall .... ANYONE can be forced to kill.

Oh, then maybe I should have been more specific. The One True God, The God of Abraham, (not Satan, Lucifer, Allah, Gaia, or any other false god) commands you to not commit murder.

I wonder if there is a way to get through to someone who claims to even know what murder is, or Who God is, etc.

There are more than the two alternatives of “being kept alive by every conceivable modern technological machine and contrivance” and “having doctors kill you”.

People advocating euthanasia love to pretend these are the only two alternatives. It is a dirty debate tactic.

Beyond the fact that I can’t imagine killing someone except in self-defence, I certainly can’t imagine murdering someone who loved me and wanted to save my life.

This is Hodar’s position:

So people opposed to Big Nanny Government authorizing and regulating doctors killing people are now like Hitler and 0bama.

Just to make it clear.

Why? You are insisting that YOUR values on how I live or die; are more pertinent, valid and correct than mine. You are injecting YOUR values on the world at large.

My stance is simple. I will not hurt or interfere in your life. I will show you the same compassion I would show anyone. If you are dying a slow and painful death; AND YOU PLEAD for me to end your suffering, I will respect you and be compassionate enough to show you mercy.

Yet, you would not only deny me the same compassion; you would go out of your way to prevent me from exercising the most basic level of control over my life.

Why? You are insisting upon freedom for yourself; but denying any semblence of freedom for me. Hence the comparision. These individuals insist that their values are the only metric that matters; and force those decisions upon everyone else .... which is exactly what you are espousing - if you only had the power to do so, you would.

Words mean things. Murder does not mean being forced to kill.

Loving someone does not include murdering them.

Murder does not mean being forced to kill.

Yet, for some weird reason, words mean different things when I'm accused of being a 'potential murderer' when I state that I would kill, if someone was preventing me from exercising the most basic and fundamental right I have. Funny, words have meaning when I use them; but they have no meaning at all when other people use them. Little bit of a double standard, huh?

You are the one who keeps redefining words like "murder."

EVERYONE is a potential murderer .... under the right circumstances, when your back is against the wall .... ANYONE can be forced to kill.

What did "murder" mean when you began that line, and what did it mean by the time you got to the end?
