Darrell Issa to subpoena Obama admin over Project Gunrunner
The Right Scoop ^ | 6/5/11 | staff

Posted on 06/05/2011 12:40:33 PM PDT by Nachum

Rep. Darrell Issa says he’s had to go directly to the field to get information about Project Gunrunner because the Obama administration has stonewalled on all of the information subpoenas they’ve been sent. But now it’s their turn. Issa says that he’s ready to subpoena people in the Obama administration for hearings this summer. He points out that this isn’t the discovery phase of the process because they know exactly what happened. They now want to know what the administration was thinking by approving a process that sent high-powered weapons to the ‘worst of the worst’ on both sides of the border resulting in the deaths of both Federal agents and Mexican agents.

If you are short on time, the actual interview with Issa starts at 1:10.

How much has the Republican congress actually gotten passed?

For instance, they could have included the denial of government funding for Planned Parenthood in a bill that Obama had to sign, or close down the government. But they pulled it, and put it through in a separate bill, which will never be passed while Obama is in the White House.

So, what might have been a real accomplishment became a symbolic gesture.

How much have they actually accomplished? About $200 million in first-round budget cuts, after promising to cut a hundred billion (which would still only be a drop in the bucket).

Well Bert why not pander away. If you are a GOP loyalist and believes it indeed is a Grand party please tell us what its house members have done lately. Move to defund Obamacare? Actually try to defund Dem sacred cows such as Planned Parenthood? The refusal to increase the debt ceiling is interesting. Since it was not trumpeted as the advent of the end of the world by the press one is left wondering what maneuvers are going on. In general my distaste for the Republican leadership is that they all sound as though they have a personal political correctness machine through which everything they speak is processed. Maybe these folks are the great men you believe them to be. We will see. In general I don't think any man is great. A few just rise to great challenges.

I have zero faith that Rep Issa will actually do anything.

Me too. And remember back when the Republicans won the house, Issa was being described as being Obama's worst enemy?

What a joke.

Same old, same old (Republicans).

>>I will not pander to your ignorance<<

If you can’t back up your statements or at least give reasons for making them I would suggest you don’t make comments you can’t give reasoning for. There are more of us who would like to hear your reasoning.

Why are the Republicans slow walking this investigation?

I’m beginning to think anything serious like this is simply given a nod and a wink and they go through the motions and let it fizzle out. For public consumption only. They can go through the motions but cannott cross the line because their families might be in danger. I hate to think it’s come to that but.....

Blow out your birthday cake candles now.

Remember the Whitewater, Waco, and Lewinsky investigations?

Those who ignore history are condemned to repeat it.

Why come on a discussion site and post comments, then refuse to discuss the details to back up your initial comments?

Not ragging on you, but it seems to make no sense. We’re all here to share our thoughts and make our points and either become eduacated by other on this site or be the one educating those who are less knowledgeable. Teach or learn, but please avoid calling others ignorant without having the decency to back it up with facts.

Thank you.

I should learn to spell check before posting.

Issa is making an awful lot of noise. We will see what he does when the rubber meets the road.

Rubber meets the road?

Nah. They just want to make a lot of noise during election time to get the Obamanauts on camera looking stupid. If they do happen to find something, well- that’s a bonus.

While anything that lands egg on the faces of the criminal thugs of the BATFE, it would perhaps be more useful to investigate where, exactly, the gangs in mexico and elsewhere are getting grenades and rocket launchers. It’s not at the local gun show, that’s for sure.
