Tea Party to Back Any GOP Nominee — Including Romney
Fox News ^ | 6-5-2011 | Lexi Stemple

The Tea Party will support whoever wins the GOP presidential nomination - - even if that person is former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney. That's the affirmative word from Tea Party Express chair Amy Kremer.

Kremer told Fox News on Saturday, "whoever the Republican nominee is will have to have the support of the Tea Party movement, the entire Tea Party movement."

Kremer went on to say the Tea Party is "completely neutral," adding that it "just wants to see the cream rise to the top... If Romney is the nominee I believe that we want to defeat Barack Obama."

Her confidence comes while some Tea Partiers, including some at FreedomWorks, a leading voice in the Tea Party movement, set their sights on stopping a Romney nomination.

Kremer also wants to put to rest the idea the Tea Party would support a third party candidate, insisting the Tea Party can work from within the democratic and republican parties.

"There is no way that we are going to support a third party candidate. It would split the vote and it would guarantee reelection for Obama, and we need to crush Obama we have to get him out of the White House," says Kremer.

Kremer also believes the Tea Party movement will have a "massive impact just as we did in 2010."

In fact, she feels the Tea Party and its elected representatives are responsible for the failure of a clean debt ceiling vote in congress this week.

"We are still having an impact here in Washington. I really believe that if it weren't for the Tea Party movement they would already raised the debt ceiling and the spending would continue to be out of control... The democratic party was completely split.

If it wasn't for this movement, I don't think you would...

As the founder of the Mansfield North Central Ohio Tea Party Association, http://www.bloodofpatriots.org I can tell you with certitude...we will not support Romney or any other RINO. Kremer doesn't speak for us.

If Amy thinks she is speaking for me (or millions like me) her head is irretrievably lost up her backside.

The beauty of the Tea Party is there is no one leader. If any network was going to get it right it would be Fox so clearly we can see how this story will play out.

Absolutely right. I have held my nose and voted more than once, most recently in 2008. To do otherwise is immature and self destructive.

I am way to radical to belong to any “group”, the “Tea Party” or otherwise.

I will vote for the most constitutionally conservative option available to me in my state primary.

Then, I will vote for whoever has an “R” beside their name in Nov. 2012.

That’s just how I roll.

For my part I’ll fight in the primary, and like ‘08 I’ll hold my nose and vote for Mittens, but I know a few conservatives who’ll just stay home on election day if the media picks our candidate again.

Intuitatively, you know that the people who were in the tea party and many of the independents know that Romney will not be the candidate. If he is, those same people will well up and create something bigger than the Ross Perot insurrection, thereby insuring a big win for the Democrats. A man who favored abortion and a state-scale health insurance bill has no chance of winning for the Conservatitives.

Republican National Committee wake up! Back a candidate with none of the baggage he has. If he was viable, he’d have won before. Wake up and smell the roses. Why are the media and the democratic party pushing him so hard? The answer ought to be obvious to you. He can’t win!

Okay, let us suppose McCain won the election, but with the same congress that was elected in 2008. I think the same legislation would have passed, but with no opposition from the Republicans.

Having a RINO in office is much worse than no Republican at all. I WILL NOT vote for Romney under any circumstances.
