“tragedy here is that not only will the deal ruin AOL, but it will also ruin the Huffington Post”

(Tragedy? hysterical laughter from me!)

Good Riddance!

So sick of hearing people source that site for “news”.

“The tragedy here is that not only will the deal ruin AOL, but it will also ruin the Huffington Post. “

This is a bad thing??

Pure leftist tripe, and absolutely unreadable...even the headlines.

"The tragedy here is that not only will the deal ruin AOL, but it will also ruin the Huffington Post."

And all this time I thought I knew what tragedy meant. Go figure.

Those miserable saps. Sounds like one of the companies I joined years ago. Everyone hated the new management that employees would literally walk across the building and spend the entire day in the library. The remaining time they would start typing their resumes.

I don’t know why they thought putting two losers together would make a winner. All they did was create one big loser.

No matter what the product, if you piss off 75% of your potential customer base right off the bat, that’s going to be a problem...

Ever since my screen is blasted with Huttington Post junk, my aol hasn’t worked well. So, I now go through aol internet explorer to avoid all of their left wing so called news. Makes me furious as I can no longer copy and paste to the face of the emails as before...oh well...I’ll manage.

The media needed a merger of AOL and the Huffingtonpout like Newcastle needed coal.

But, until search engines users rebel at search engines treating it like a real news source it’ll make money.

I just got out my “tragedy” magnifying glass, but still no luck finding it. Must be one of those flea on a dog things.

I started out on the internet pretty early, when when the original of Netscape was still in Beta. And fairly early I got involved with CompuServe dialup.

At the time, Compuserve was very good. Almost by accident, I became an adviser in the Help Forum, and then a sysop.

But AOL took over Compuserve and wrecked it. And their miserable software developers were impossible to work with. As high-speed cable became available, I gradually abandoned CompuServe, although I kept it for 5 or 6 years as a backup to cable, which frequently went down, since as a sysop I had free service.

But AOL ruined the CompuServe part of their company, and wrecked and threw away all of the forums that had been built up over the years, many on a partly volunteer basis. I had to keep AOL for a while because my kids used AIM. When that lost out to newer ways of getting in touch with friends, AOL went down the drain—for me, at least. I can’t see that it has any reason for existing any longer.

HuffPo is the same. Without rich liberals to support it as a propaganda tool, it’s hard to see how it can survive in the changing world of the internet.

This merger is going down in flames because the actual shareholders of AOL are revolting against this money-grab at their expense.

I’m proud to say that I’ve never logged on to the Huffington Post and I’ve never been a customer of AOL.

To paraphrase Rush, “I hope they fail.”
