Weiner apologizes for lying, 'terrible mistakes,' refuses to resign
CNN ^ | June 6, 2011

A week after claiming a hacker had posted a lewd photo to his Twitter account, U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner on Monday apologized for lying about the ordeal and admitting carrying on inappropriate relationships with several women he'd met online. Weiner, a New York Democrat, said he is not resigning his seat, nor is he planning on separating from his wife. But he said he took responsibility for his actions -- both the relationships and for lying about sending the photo of his bulging underwear on his Twitter account.

"To be clear, the picture was of me, and I sent it. I'm deeply sorry for the pain this has caused my wife, and our family, my constituents, my friends, my supporters and my staff," he said, claiming he'd posted the Twitter photo accidentally as a "joke" and then "panicked." "I lied because I was ashamed at what I had done, and I didn't want to get caught."

Weiner described his actions as "dumb," "destructive" and "deeply, deeply hurtful" -- both for his admitted cover-up and for carrying on relationships with six women he'd met online, mostly via Facebook....

We all should realize that his lies and attacks on innocent people would still be on going had the new pictures not surfaced.

Lie until you realize your trapped, then apologize. That is today’s Democrat Party.

This guy right now has his “private” investigators out there checking ages on every woman he ever sent a message to. Even Chrissy Tingle-Leg said “Adult women don’t do this” kind of thing on the internet.

Is there ANYTHING a Dem can do that would be sufficient cause for resignation? We know murder and cheating on one's taxes are out, as are any sexual misdoings....the only things I can think of would be

Being discovered talking a woman out of having an abortion

or

Posting thoughtful conservative views on FR.

Did I miss anything?

What part of the oath of office allows you to lie to the American people?

This is a test not for Democrats but for Republicans. The speaker of the house needs to make a statement that if Weiner will not resign then he will be expelled. We can’t allow people to lie until they get caught then appologize and go on. He must be expelled.

Barney and Anthony could take their act on the road, call it the ‘Frank and Weiner’ tour. Your buns are ours.

Weiner survives this in his dreams.

Wait. Are you being a little hasty here? I think he made a GUTSY CALL to defend personal freedom on the social media. I think he can offer clear alternative to the narrow minded people who have been left in the wake to the freedom loving pioneers fighting for the Brave New World of social media. Remember Tunisia!!! YeaH!!! I say hang in there congressman. And I hope you get reelected. /sarc.

But I really hope he won't resign.

Now Nancy Pelosi is calling for an ethics investigation into Weiner’s tweets. This isn’t a matter of ethics, this is about standards and common decency. Most of all, it is about his bad, bad judgment.

I say send his case to the House Ethics Committee. Do as the rats would do and not release the findings until a month or so before his dismissal from office.

I’d like to see someone make a loop of that routine from last week when he went into the old, “at a time when Republicans are playing games with the budget... etc.” routine and run it everytime one of these clowns tries that stunt. It’s almost a tic among Rats in trouble, and it’d be a very effective counter.

I’m envisioning what’s next. Since it’s obvious he’s been coached by Bill Clinton on how to best handle this situation, complete with the “I have to get back to work for the people”, can we expect a well publicized visit from the Rev. Jesse Jackson? Can we expect a golden oldie mantra, “it’s only about sex”. Will Hillary Clinton be dragged into this?

I can’t see how his Party will not force him out.
