Nancy Pelosi calls for Anthony Weiner ethics inquiry

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Rep. Steve Israel, the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, are calling for an investigation into Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) over the series of sexually explicit conservations and lewd photos he exchanged with a half-dozen women during the last several years.
“I am deeply disappointed and saddened about this situation; for Anthony’s wife, Huma, his family, his staff and his constituents,” Pelosi said in a statement released on Monday night.
“I am calling for an Ethics Committee investigation to determine whether any official resources were used or any other violation of House rules occurred.”
Israel added: “Congressman Anthony Weiner engaged in a deep personal failure and inappropriate behavior that embarrassed himself, his family, and the House. Ultimately, Anthony and his constituents will make a judgment about his future .
“To remove all remaining doubt about this situation, I agree with Leader Pelosi’s request that the House Ethics Committee use its authority to begin an investigation.”
The calls by Pelosi and Israel for an ethics investigation dramatically raise the political stakes for Weiner. While he stated repeatedly during an emotional press conference on Monday that he had broken no laws nor violated House ethics rules during his interaction with the women, a probe by the House Ethics Committee could find differently.
And it also could provide Pelosi and other Democratic leaders with political cover to call on Weiner to step down. So far, none of his Democratic colleagues have called on him to give up the seat that he first won in 1998.
“I am deeply regretting what I have done, and I am not resigning,” the New York Democrat told reporters on Monday afternoon. “I am deeply sorry for the pain this has caused Huma, my wife, and my family.”

He used his official office last week to provide interviews to reporters. He told lies in those interviews while sitting in his tax payer supported office. That is illegal use of his position and federal stuff...

Why bother? He has no ethics, and the entire world knows that. Dem leaders don’t care, and his voters don’t care, so let’s move on to what matters. Isn’t there some Sarah Palin dirt in those 24,000 pages of her email? Or did she perhaps say something silly (meaning historically correct but inconsistent with poetry) about one of our Founding Fathers?

No he’s not. Pelosi is performing political theater. The house at most will censure Weiner and agendas will proceed as planned.
The worst part for Weiner(ha! pun)is that this will probably cost him a cabinet appointment in the Hillary admin.
