President Barack Obama famously won the 2008 election on a wave of support from America's youth. But any hopes the 49-year-old had of keeping down with the kids appear to have faded - his support from young people is rapidly waning, a poll has found. And for a man known for his 'jacket off' casual style the reason for this slump may be particularly hurtful - students are abandoning the President because they do not think he is cool anymore, it has been claimed.
Obama won because he stole large shares of older people's votes as well, research suggests. In Virginia, for example, he reached 55 per cent of seniors, whereas John McCain wooed just 45 per cent. The Obama campaign denied that the President had lost his support from young people, pointing out that its summer organiser programme has had more applications this year than ever before.
According to the National Journal's Ronald Brownstein report, President Obama has dramatically lost support from young people - and particularly young white people - in America since 2008. His approval rating among those aged 18 to 29 is currently at 56 per cent - a huge fall of ten points since the 2008 exit polls.

That’s because all of these young people are unemployed. Applications for just about everything are likely “more ...this year than ever before.”
America's youth may not be too bright - but they know when they've been had.

You tell them you're going to bring peace, love and harmony to the world, you better bring peace, love and harmony to the world.
You tell them everybody will be able to sleep till noon and then take a two hour lunch break and then leave early and still make money hand over fist, well, you best bring about economic conditions that will allow them to sleep till noon, then take a two hour lunch break and then leave early and spend all the money that's spilling out of every tree, rock and turtle they come across.
Or there will be hell to pay next time around.
Maybe those degrees will get you a job at Mickey D’s!

Students see that college does not result in a job and O’s charisma falls away.
O is a job killer and students feel the results first.
Maybe some of these white students are watching their white parents struggle to pay bills,buy groceries,no vacation money,etc....,and they are asking “Why?!”
No jobs, no votes.

Poetic justice. Just a few short years ago, DemocRATS (led by one of my two pathetic Senators, Dianne Feinstein) were lambasting President George H.W. Bush's economy as being nothing but "burger flipping" jobs.
Now they're hanging their hats on those same jobs.

At least 3, possibly 4 or those percentage points can be described as entirely new votes: students who had never voted before and African-American voters who had never voted before.
They were highly motivated for that one election - but that motivation has now largely evaporated.
He’s not cool. Never was. He’s an arrogant little snot who needed to get beaten up a couple of times as a kid, instead of protected, coddled, and told “you’re right, Barry” at every opportunity.
Since running as a black guy doesn’t look very promising wonder if he will run as a white guy next election?
