I never gave up my membership to the (new order) Mennonite Church, as I now attend Catholic mass every week with my son and husband. I once briefly, very briefly, considered Goshen. Akron U was much cheaper! I’ll have to email these guys as a Mennonite.
>> The Board concluded that continuing to play the national anthem compromised the ability of college constituents to advance the vision together.
I conclude The Board is Communist.
Always look for the weasel clause.
Goshen College Board of Directors ask to play the national anthem of Mexico as an alternative to playing the Star-Spangled Banner that fits with sports soccer tradition, that honors the country of Mexico and that resonates with Goshen College’s core values of illegal aliens and respects the views of diverse constituencies of Latin America.
How about “Highway to Hell”.........................
In days gone by the “diverse constituencies” adhered to being in America. “Progressives” now want America to lose her identity instead. America, the Melting Pot of the world has become America, the Boiling Pot.
In the name of diversity, I suggest they play Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” and see how their donations do. Cheerio!
Cut off their federally funded student loans, their tax exempt status, and all other federal taxpayer subsidies.
That will provide these parasites “the ability of college constituents to advance the vision”.
Goshen is a traditional Mennonite college. Mennonites are pacificsts like the Quakers. I am surprised they ever had the National Anthem on their campus. Mennonite churches that I have been in do not have a flag in their building.
As one who grew up in that town and on that college campus. Goshen College is trapped by its pacifist tradtion. The average mennonite is not only a pacifist but he is a conservatie Republican. In fact Mennonites are one of the most Republican voteing groups there is. However, it has a small leftist contingent that seems to have taken over Goshen College. Most people would rather not debate them and keep quiet. Like so many other churches this small minority seeems to have taken over many of the high profile positions in the church as a result. too bad. I always complained about it but I was told that there was really a different church out there and that those people were not representative of that church. We really need to take back your insititutions and start saying no,and don’t worry about debtaing them, just say no.
I highly recommend the Jimi Hendrix Woodstock version of the Star Spangled Banner. Always makes me feel all diverse and stuff.
“Diversity” means “F you.”
Maybe the students’ parents ought to find an ‘alternative’ school.
IIRC The Star-Spangled Banner was not adopted as our national anthem until the 1930s. I always thought it was a strange selection. More of an ode to a flag than a hymn of praise & thanksgiving for our country. Does anybody know about the selection process? Were any other compositions considered? America, The Beautiful or God Bless American say a lot more about our country.

“... respects the views of diverse constituencies...”
Ah, diversity: Pollyannaism which works perfectly for parasites or in terms liberals will understand, the belief that one can actually pick up a turd by the clean end.
How about playing the “Bonnie Blue Flag” instead.../s
