Michelle Bachmann's new top consultant, Ed Rollins, began his tenure with scathing criticism of potential Bachmann rival Sarah Palin.
"Sarah has not been serious over the last couple of years," Rollins told Brian Kilmeade on his radio show, Kilmeade and friends. "She got the Vice Presidential thing handed to her, she didn't go to work in the sense of trying to gain more substance, she gave up her governorship."
He suggested that the contrast would favor Bachmann.
"Michele Bachmann and others [have] worked hard, she has been a leader of the Tea Party which is a very important element here, she has been an attorney, she has done important things with family values."
"She is probably the best communicator [in the GOP field] now that Mike Huckabee's not in there," he said.
Rollins has long been skeptical of Palin, but his new role with Bachmann suggests that criticism will become part of her campaign, though she has publicly praised the former Alaska governor.
Glory hallelujah, I just phoned the parson
Hey, par, get ready to call
Just like Humpty Dumpty
I'm going to fall
I was sittin' on top o' the world
Just Rollins along
Giving Palin the gong
I used to be a King Kong
Now I'm just a ding-dong
Just Rollins along
Just Rollins........

Welcome to the Primaries. After a candidate accepts the nomination, everyone will be making nice-nice and shaking hands. This is how it is done.
Being from a district in Minnesota, there’s no way she could be supported by her left-wing state.
She has to seek support among people who are her ideological constituency, and the fact that she was born and raised in Iowa, where she concentrates her campaigning.
What is she doing hiring a failed consultant? Also a loose cannon consultant.
I like Michele.
This pains me.
Most freepers are enthusiastic because she can talk; I think it takes a lot more than that.
But what she said is typical for the primaries. Dumb, but typical. However, it's not going to put her in good stead with conservatives as this thread attests.
Anyone who finds the hiring of Rollins and his comments repulsive should go and vote for Sarah on the O’Reilly poll that’s been running for close to a week and will end today. He’s dying to announce tonight that Bachmann won the poll. Don’t let it happen. The poll is on the right hand side.
Rollins is a has been. Reagan won because of Reagan not because of Rollins. Bad choice for Bachmann to go with him. And they should ONLY be attacking Obama and never each other. All of them right now should be focused like a laser on the Obama presidency and democrats not each other.
Then we need to forget about her. I’m truly shocked but it’s been a week of shocks.
“this is offensive and offputting.”
For those of us who prefer Palin but would have considered Bachmann if necessary, this is a real turn-off.
I wrote on her Facebook wall. Told her to DUMP that dud immediately!
Yep. For the putative spokesperson for Bachmann's campaign to come out of the chute attaking Palin, who's enormously popular with the same base Michele would need to cultivate, and who's not even in the race, instead of Obama or the RINO frontrunner Romney is a HUGE mistake. This makes Michele look really bad. If Palin doesn't declare, Michele will have a hard time co-opting her supporters who might have otherwise thrown their support to Bachmann.
I told them last week not to call me anymore because they were rude and obnoxious. We helped her generously during her fight to save her congressional seat. NO MORE and this just proves that my instincts were right about this woman and her staff. Ed Rollins?
Michele Bachmann is just a tool of the establishament GOP to try and keep Palin out of the race. That’s what my instincts have been saying ever since she got in the race. Romney has probably promised her the VP slot to boot if she divides the Tea Party base that want to vote for Palin. I am sad to say that I don’t trust her anymore. Not right now anyway..especially after this news.
Bachmann’s decision to bring Ed Rollins on board will prove to be fatal.
He will take an otherwise very promising candidate and make her a Huckabeeeee. Disappointing.
“Rollins told Brian Kilmeade on his radio show”
Somebody connected with Politico must be one of the 3 listeners to that show.
Bachmann is kind of like the conservative equivalent of Cynthia McKinney...and she has about as much chance of getting elected.
The added controversy is that these words didn’t come out of her mouth but out of Ed Rollins’s.
Having him attack Sarah in this manner is asinine and braindead.
If Michele believes Sarah isn’t serious what with her activities since she came on the national scene and especially of late, she should say so in her own words using her own voice, and try to explain herself. But even then, she shouldn’t make it a bald-faced attack. She should subtly contrast her work in Congress on substantive issue with Sarah’s activities and say that she thinks she offers the better experience on things like the debt, Obamacare, etc.
I really think having or allowing Rollins to bluntly and cold-bloodedly attack Sarah is the worst of all worlds.
And she shouldn’t have hired him, period.
Fair or unfair an attack on Palin by those align more with her philosophy are considered backstabbers by many in the base of the party, who whether or not they want Palin to be the nominee, still highly respect her! Sarah is already getting grief enough from Establishment advisers and staffers and this will hurt Bachmann in the end more than help her among those who like Sarah but may support Michele!
“start?”
Sadly, it appears to be true and pretty disgusting.
At least she showed her true colors right away, so people have plenty of time to see the real Bachmann.
