A palate cleanser via the Daily Caller dedicated to a very special man who’s still not worried that we’re headed for a double-dip recession. Anytime we write about the “raise my taxes!” crowd I feel obliged to remind them that they’re perfectly entitled to raise their own taxes whenever they like. Here’s the link; every dollar that goes towards paying down the national debt means a little extra tax revenue isn’t going towards interest payments and can therefore be applied elsewhere.
Give generously, kids, because guess what?
The government added $5.3 trillion in new financial obligations in 2010, largely for retirement programs such as Medicare and Social Security. That brings to a record $61.6 trillion the total of financial promises not paid for.
This gap between spending commitments and revenue last year equals more than one-third of the nation’s gross domestic product…
The $61.6 trillion in unfunded obligations amounts to $534,000 per household. That’s more than five times what Americans have borrowed for everything else mortgages, car loans and other debt. It reflects the challenge as the number of retirees soars over the next 20 years and seniors try to collect on those spending promises…
The government has promised pension and health benefits worth more than $700,000 per retired civil servant. The pension fund’s key asset: federal IOUs.
Medicare alone took on an extra $1.8 trillion in liabilities last year, but we’ll just have to come up with the money — unless, of course, you’re prepared to sit by and watch as Paul Ryan kills your grandma with his bare hands. You wouldn’t do that to grandma, would you?
These ‘patriotic millionaires’ believe they have access to power and therefore will be exempt from such nonsense. They PAY for tax avoidance or else they would simply not take the allotted deductions for the ‘common good’ of course.
Perhaps if some billboards were put up with that on it; the media certainly doesn’t ever utter a peep about it.
Even when rich lefty elites say it during interviews !!!
Buffett says this garbage - all these tax more more people should be sent a bill. Perhaps if people started investigating them, hounding them to pay more. Maybe that would shut their yaps. It just completely hoodwinks a lot of people who are poor and gullible into thinking they really mean it - like the IRS won’t accept their money !!!!!!!!!!
Actually it is patriotic to keep money in the productive private economy and out of the destructive hands of the government.
They can cut a check anytime they wish.
But I believe that their accountants get to them first to remind them that their villa in Lyon will have to be sacrificed for this stunt.
RE: Actually it is patriotic to keep money in the productive private economy and out of the destructive hands of the government
One of the major struggles of our time is the definition and understanding of “patriotism”.
To the left, patriotism means asking what your country can do for you ( which means of course, giving up more of your money to receive such largesse ).
JFK’s plea of asking what you can do for your country (through your own hard work and through helping your fellowmen) is increasingly being forgotten.
How do I make a contribution to the U.S. government? Citizens who wish to make a general donation to the U.S. government may send contributions to a specific account called "Gifts to the United States." This account was established in 1843 to accept gifts, such as bequests, from individuals wishing to express their patriotism to the United States. Money deposited into this account is for general use by the federal government and can be available for budget needs. These contributions are considered an unconditional gift to the government. Financial gifts can be made by check or money order payable to the United States Treasury and mailed to the address below.Nobody's stopping 'em from giving more than they're taxed.

ANYONE who advocates higher taxes should be held to a standard of "if you haven't already given more than required, you're not serious."
More money to the government equals more power to the government and less power and liberty for the individual.
There is nothing “patriotic” about that.
It is much more patriotic to keep the government unintrusive and let the people keep more freedom.
Even if we kill the rich and take their money we’ll still be pretty short. Wars on prosperity never work.
I hate these executive types who promote government power, intrusion and taxation as a means to control us.
They think it's protection money. If they agree to pay more their government won't crush their businesses with regulation.
All that is going on now is straight out of Atlas Shrugged...
It’s not about the truly wealthy, who mostly donate to leftist causes so they can keep their hollywood friends, it IS about the section of the middle class that creates jobs and DOES spread the success and wealth around. THESE are the true targets of the left. Destroy them and you destroy the rest of us.
The total wealth of all the filthy rich, lib millionaires and billionaires runs into the trillions of dollars. I’m sure these people wouldn’t mind donating large portions of those trillions to the government. (smirk)
“A fool and his money are lucky enough to get together in the first place.”
They pay big bucks for tax avoidance so first they can stop doing that, then they should remember the United States Treasury takes donations. WRITE A CHECK!
