Time, Newsweek 2006, Cover Stories, 15 Pages to Mark Foley; 160 Words on Weinergate

Full Title: Time, Newsweek Offered Cover Stories and 15 Pages to Mark Foley in 2006; But About 160 Tiny Words on Weinergate

Brent Bozell reminded readers of his column that the networks piled on 152 stories about Rep. Mark Foley in the story's first 12 days in the fall of 2006, but they weren’t the only ones with a vast left-wing disparity.

Time and Newsweek each devoted cover stories and multiple pages to the Foley scandal.

Time put an elephant’s rear end on the cover with the words “What a Mess...Why a tawdry Washington sex scandal may spell the end of the Republican revolution”.

Newsweek had a huge picture of Foley (with a small President Bush in front of his face) with the huge headline “Off Message” and the subhead “Foley’s Secret Life: How a Predator’s E-mail Sex Scandal Could Cost Bush Congress.”

Obviously, there were no Anthony Weiner cover stories this week (dated June 13): Time had Dr. Oz, and Newsweek mocked Mitt Romney’s Mormonism as they promoted the vulgar South Park musical "The Book of Mormon."

How many Weinergate pages inside? Do you have to guess?

There's not a "page" at all.

My favorite title from the last few days:

“Harry Reid Hangs Wiener Out To Dry”

Wouldn’t next weeks issue have the story?

Print media was healthier in 2006 and offered more column inches for articles. And Newsweek had not yet gone belly-up.

It’s already a different world, five years later.

I would hope that you’re not trying to suggest that Weiner hasn’t gotten enough bad press.

I’m sick of hearing about the little weasel-pervert.

There have been dozens of articles posted her on Weiner. The TV incessantly is running stories on him. How can you say the guy is not getting trashed? It’s the best thing to happen to our side. The guy will not step down, so the story is left to continue.

And why won’t he step down? Why should he? What exactly will he do for a living, right a book? Take a “stab” at doing a porno movie with Ginger? He’s stuck.

Eventually, he may step down esp if he is a liability. He certainly can’t get up before any body with any credibility, at least for the next couple years.

Someone gave him advice to step down now, and then rerun again in 2012. That makes good sense. Let the people decide.

But he won’t do that, and the democrats are a different breed. They’re that type, remember? You win a bet when you were a kid, and it would be double or nothing, over and over again until you finally lost.

Compare it after next week's issues and then you might have something. It's NOT a comparison when you take the entire run time of one story and the first 10 days (all pre confession) of another.

Come on...this kind of stuff maikes us looks stupid. There is enough bias out there without this kind of reach. Wait a month then compare...THEN you can see the bias.

In all honesty, what Weiner did doesn’t compare with what Foley did. Foley’s misconduct involved minors, males at that.

If Weiner weren’t married I really wouldn’t care about him Tweeting his weiner. I’m not sure I care much now, except for the fact that he has always been such a scum-bag, and a smug liar, that it his fall seems fitting.

I have a bigger problem with his arrogant lying.

Foley’s conduct was reprehensible but the Democrats knew about it for a long time without acting—they waited until it was too late for another Republican candidate to be on the ballot and then released the news, causing him to resign. It was all part of their national strategy to label the Republicans the party of corruption—which worked.

Weiner will be a great source of amusement for years to come if he remains in the House. It won’t be long before he is invited to a panel discussion as an advocate for one side. It’s inevitable that the will again begin frothing and fuming, whereupon the conservative counterpart will have to only utter the words, “Keep your pants on Anthony,” to relegate Weiner’s opinion to its deserved status.

.... I don’t think you’ve read the many emails (or tweets, whatever) that have been printed in the New York tabs. I started reading them over my morning coffee and almost got sick. It’s fairly obvious that we don’t have the full story on this monster. By the end, you may very well think he’s as bad as Foley.

And just a reminder: he is a U.S. Representative who has subjected himself to blackmail. I don’t give a damn about his little lady wife. I care about the country. Go, Weiner, go to hell!

We know the MSM is biased, with a lot of it bought and paid for by Soros. Enough with the whining, where are the rich conservatives who will go into journalism and compete against them.

No offense, but I don’t think you can say 100% that Weiner wasn’t tweeting minors. Given the fact he has lied throughout this whole thing, why would we believe him that it was only between 6 and 12 women, he thinks. How the heck does anyone know it isn’t far more, and how can even HE be certain that some of the people he sent his junk to were not minors?
