Don't run, GOP voters tell Sarah Palin (According to CBS Poll)
The Australian ^ | 6-11-2011 | Brad Norington

As Sarah Palin toys with running for the US presidency, voters have apparently made up their minds for her.

A new CBS News opinion poll shows 66 per cent do not want the former Republican vice-presidential candidate to enter the White House race.

Most informative for Ms Palin's deliberations is a breakdown of the poll results indicating 54 per cent of Republican voters and 50 per cent of ultra-conservative Tea Party supporters do not want her to seek her party's nomination.

The former Alaskan governor, who attracts considerable publicity because of her unconventional style, public gaffes and charismatic appeal among some conservative voters, said months ago she would only run "if there's nobody else to do it". Dissatisfaction with a weak field of Republican contenders to match Democrat President Barack Obama has helped keep her name in the spotlight.

Ms Palin did nothing to discourage questions about her ambitions during a highly publicised "One Nation" bus tour of eastern US states over the past fortnight. The purpose of the tour has yet to be explained.

In a sign her campaign could be over even before it starts, only 34 per cent of Republican voters and 38 per cent of Tea Party supporters in the poll want Ms Palin to seek her party's nomination.

She faces renewed scrutiny overnight when more than 24,000 pages of emails she sent as Alaskan governor will be released almost three years after they were requested by journalists and local political activists.

With much criticism over her past administration in Alaska, there is intense speculation about the contents of six boxes of emails to be released.

Ms Palin is not the only troubled Republican. The White House campaign of former house Speaker Newt Gingrich collapsed yesterday when his campaign manager and senior strategists resigned en masse.

Dave Carney, an experienced Republican strategist who was among those to quit, said the walkout occurred after a meeting in which it was agreed Mr Gingrich lacked commitment and a vision for his campaign.

The last straw after weeks of disorganisation and a shortage of funds to cover high-paid staff appears to have been Mr Gingrich's decision to take his wife, Callista, on a two-week holiday in the Greek islands when his team wanted him on the campaign trail in Iowa.

In a Facebook posting, Mr Gingrich said he was committed to "a substantive, solutions-oriented campaign" and would launch it "anew" tomorrow.

Stopped reading right there. Beclowned again they are.

SEEBS... you are all lying MF’ers and the truth is not in you. I think that President Palin will do something about our so called journolistas being nothing but propagandists.

Sarah should put her hat in the ring and all the Republican candidates should duke it out in a series of debates so we can winnow down the field to a candidate most likely to win and lead the country.

To win over independents that everyone seems so worried about, just ask them the 64-trillion dollar question: “Are you better off now that you were in 2008?”. Keep hammering away at Obama’s lies, mendacity, and incompetence.

Obama has such an abysmal record that he should be easy to beat, unless most American voters are already brain-dead media-fed zombies.

CBS is just afraid that since Palin will have no chance against the president next year conservative values will not receive a fair hearing in 2012. CBS News is well known to have always had the best interests of the conservative movement in mind.

Well that clinches it for me. We need to throw the towel in because the ‘polls’ are really reliable. /s

Oh, hey, well if a reliable, staunchly conservative agency like CBS says this, Palin should definately just slink away.

CBS could just be doing the conservative voters a favor by keeping them from wasting time and money on Mrs. Palin.

The day we start following CBS Polls this country is lost. I hope you are being sarcastic with your comment or you just jumped into the fire. You might want to clarify your statement.

And one should believe these CBS poll results because....

Because CBS has a long tradition that even if their news is fake, they will still defend its accuracy.

The whole thing is loony... Why would anyone not want a possible candidate NOT to enter the primary? They clearly don’t have to vote for her, that’s their choice. How would her running effect any of them, unless she won.

CBS News is our friend. I so miss Dan Rather. Katie Couric was the only thing keeping me from sliding into total depression.

If not Palin, who?

Who has been the strongest voice for Conservatism in the last 3 years?

Of the major potential GOP nominees, who most aggressively challenged Obamacare?

What potential candidate had the most influence over the GOP’s 2010 election success?

What candidate has over 3 million facebook followers and thousands, if not millions, chomping at the bit for her to announce just so they can donate to HER campaign?

What candidate can claim two best selling books?

What person in the GOP is more equipped to offer REAL solutions when it comes to a sound domestic energy policy?

Who offers the greatest hope to radically change the course of this nation back towards a Constitutional Republic?

Is there any candidate with any more proven executive experience shaking up an entrenched bureaucracy?

I could go on, but hopefully you get the point.

The “anybody but Sarah cult” is alive and well at See BS.

Has any- EVER - seen the corrupt MSM do a poll suggesting some Democrat should not run for office? Anyone? EVER?

They are corrupt to the core.

I whole-heartedly support a Palin run!

Palin needs to face the fact that smart political marketers rate Palin’s average ambient negative Q-Factor adjusted for likely voters among key swing districts adjusted by a weighted average adjusted for Electoral College strategic leverage as much more problematic as that of Duncan Hunter.

I would love to see Sarah run, if only to watch the ruling class elites and there ho’s in the media (and D.C) squirm. Should Sarah get the GOP nomination the man behind the curtain would be in plain view with no where to run and hide. That in an of itself would be a great gift to the nation.

The ruling class is close to full panic mode just thinking someone outside there circle, someone with a history of taking them on and winning is contemplating making a go of it.

Taking this poll at face value (which I don't, CBS after all) is that Sarah has 36% of voters locked up and only needs another 15%. That should be doable, given Obama's terrible handling of all things presidential.

I think it’s MY time and MY money and I’ll spend it any way I please without someone else trying to convince me against my better judgment that I’m making a mistake.

If you want to talk about no chance of being elected, you should mention huckabee(depending on the day of the week you ask him), gingrich, guiliani or romney. All without a prayer of ever entering the White House without being on a guest list.

“One has to admit.... “ uh, no, one doesn’t have to do any such thing. Especially based on a poll conducted by ANYONE from CBS.... if CBS told me water was wet, I’d have to check it out for myself to be sure.... because CBS cannot be trusted.

“....CBS could just be doing the conservative voters a favor by keeping them from wasting time and money on Mrs. Palin.”...

You know, these jokers are taking a whole lot of TIME trying to convince Republicans, Conservatives, Independents and everyone else that Gov. Palin has no chance of winning.

Knowing the MSM as we do, that should tell us that she is the one, the candidate that THEY think can motivate and excite enough folks to show up on election day.

A lot of people don’t like her, true... but I believe that, by the end of a Palin campaign, a whole lot more will be HAPPY to vote for her.

I don’t see ANYONE else from ‘our’ side, declared or undeclared.... who can MOTIVATE people in numbers large enough to kick the abomination that is Obama out of the people’s house in 2012. I just don’t see it happening.

I could be wrong, this is all my own perception of things, based on what is said in MY world and among MY friends. We will see.
