Palin emails released to throng of waiting reporters (30 journos/ 20 news groups/ 3 camera crews)

Thousands of records detailing Sarah Palin's tenure as governor of Alaska were released Friday to a waiting throng of journalists at a state office building in the capital of Juneau.

Palin's political action committee issued a statement as the documents were released to the public.

"The thousands upon thousands of emails released today show a very engaged Gov. Sarah Palin being the CEO of her state," said the treasurer of SarahPAC, Tim Crawford. "The emails detail a governor hard at work. Everyone should read them."

About 30 journalists, along with three camera crews, had been crammed into a small space in a state administrative building in Juneau, Alaska Friday, waiting for the release of boxes filled with 25,000 printed emails stemming from Sarah Palin's tenure as governor.

The boxes were stacked up and waiting for the 20 or so news organizations to grab them and take them from the building in a scene that promised to be fairly chaotic.

"It could be fun," said the Los Angeles Times' Ken Schwenke, who was part of the scrum waiting to rush the room where boxes upon boxes were stacked. The state of Alaska is releasing the emails in paper form, which means that news organizations will have to scan them to turn them into electronic, searchable documents. Each organization was to be given six boxes.

No. These “journalistic standards” only apply to Gov. Palin.

It's ken schwencke ~ subtle change in the spelling.

So this is the guy the LA Times sends to Alaska for "stuff". Should I add him to my list of suspects for the church fire up there?

Or is he just a punk.

If that's the case, the story will fizzle and die.

A lot of attention for a candidate that, we are told hourly, has no chance.

Why isn’t Obama releasing his documents like Sarah is required to?

She is handling this so well, essentially she’s saying she’s proud of her emails and hopes everybody gets to read them.

Compare and contrast Obama with any information about him and his “most transparent administration ever.”

24,000 Sarah Palin Emails To Be Searchable on Crivella West Website

[excerpt] CARNEGIE, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Crivella West Incorporated, an advanced analytics and investigational research company, announced today that it will be making available a searchable database for over 24,000 new emails from former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin’s administration that will be released as a result of public record requests originally made over two years ago. Crivella West is currently hosting the 2,544 emails that were released last year at www.crivellawest.net. Crivella West worked with msnbc.com, Mother Jones and Pro Publica in the release of those emails.

Crivella West is involved in this project because of the opportunity to demonstrate its capabilities and advanced methods for high-tech investigations as well as to feature our patented language analytics technology and allow journalists, news organizations and the public to utilize the technology for their benefit as well.

Crivella West also has an ongoing interest in leveling disparities in technology in legal discovery disputes and the access to public records. This particular release of documents by the State of Alaska illustrates some of the barriers in place for journalists and the public when trying to understand and investigate decisions made by elected officials and governmental agencies. Government’s failure to adopt current technology and modern methods thwart the long-standing public policy of freedom of information laws and access to public records. When the government participates in the legal process on behalf of the public, the same antiquated processes prevent the government from prosecuting its case to the fullest extent of the law. .............................[end excerpt]

I smell a boomerang.

These emails might reveal wonderful, principled things Sarah did as Governor, looking out for her people.

And we should be asking for the same of the Muslim in Chief.

I see the tolerant and kind left is in full hate mode today.

Why don’t they just declare her a witch and burn her at the stake already?

“I think that this is great. I think all emails, all communications for that matter, from every elected official in the country ought to be available to any citizen who cares to look at them.”

This is exactly what should happen. To have such a feeding frenzy over Palin’s emails sort of creates this monumental unanswered question.

Where are all the emails from everyone else?

How about they use a few of those reporters to examine up close and personal, obama’s original long form birth certificate.

We are about to see if this is a "please don't throw me in that briar patch" moment. While we all recognize this is a major "gotcha" mining operation, if all that's found is the paper trail of a serious and hard working no nonsense governor, or if (as I think is likely) whatever negative or slightly "off color" remarks are against the oil company executives and (Republican) politicos she went toe to toe with (and won), then exposing them to public view could actually enhance her image with voters whose minds are still open to persuasion.

I think I understand why the Republican establishment (and the D's) are so obsessed and obviously terrified of this small mother of five from the frontier. She is a combination of all of their very worst nightmares, a genuinely charismatic, purely working class achiever who speaks fluent "American" and conveys a message that is authentically populist. That makes her a clear threat to a system of thought and governing that both parties have milked and wish to continue milking for all the power and billions of dollars their evil little hearts desire.

I was thinking this same thing but couldn't think how to put it.

Thanks! You said it just right!
