More than 24,000 e-mail messages sent to and from Sarah Palin during her tenure as Alaska's governor will be released Friday. Join The Post in digging through them. We are looking for 100 organized and dilligent readers who will work alongside Post reporters to analyze, contextualize, and research the emails. Think of it as spending some time in our newsroom. The Los Angeles Times announced it would be putting up an "online database" of this supposed treasure trove of correspondence from 2006 through her naming as John McCain's running mate in 2008:
Our hope is that working together, we can efficiently find interesting information and extract new stories that will lead to further investigation.
Today the state of Alaska released nearly 25,000 emails from Palin's tenure as governor. Our team is in Alaska and scanning them in. They will appear on this page through the day. If you find anything we should be writing about, email a tip to firstname.lastname@example.orgCuriously though, this same L.A. Times has - for 3 years running - repeatedly, despite numerous requests, refused to release a video it possesses of Barack Obama reportedly praising Palestinian radical Rashid Khalidi at 2003 Chicago dinner. The same Khalidi who has called Israel a "racist" state and who called suicide attacks a justified response to "Israeli aggression". The same Khalidi who organized a 2000 fundraiser for Barack Obamas unsuccessful congressional bid, and whose Arab American Action Network received a $75,000 grant from the Woods Fund of Chicago, while Mr. Obama served on its board.
Yes, THAT Rashid Khalidi, the lavish praise for whom by then-candidate and now-President Barack Obama the L.A. Times apparently finds less relevant than Sarah Palin's emails sending Merry Christmas wishes, or updating staff on the latest techniques in waste management.
I wonder why the New York Times, Washington Post and Los Angeles Times have not hired any staff to look into the information that is completely unknown about Mr. Barack Hussein Obama. You know, little things like...
Demand the 0bama White House emails be released immediately!
Demand the 0bama White House emails be released immediately!
That's a headline that should be blazoned across the sky - every day.
In all of BOs emails, let’s see where all those internet campaign contributions came from. Inquiring minds really want to know who his donors were.
Here’s wapo’s reply if you volunteer to be 1 of the 100.
Hello from the Washington Post newsroom,
We have had a strong response to our initial call-out on the Palin e-mails. And as a result, we’ve decided to ask you and everyone else who responded to our initial call-out to post comments, questions, and information related to the e-mails directly to comment threads on The Fix: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix
Starting this afternoon, well be posting digital versions of the Palin emails here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/palinemails
So, once they begin to appear, we invite you to:
1. Browse the emails.
2. Read what other users have posted about them in the comments of The Fix blog. Take note of what has already has been pointed out.
3. If you find something new, interesting, and noteworthy, post a comment on The Fix blog under the embedded documents. Include specifics in your comment: page numbers, direct excerpts, etc.

Our producers and reporters will have an eye on the comment streams as they read and report the emails alongside you. We may contact you for further details, by way of your registered e-mail with The Post (not necessarily the address this e-mail is being sent to). If you would not like to be contacted using your registered e-mail address, please specify that with your comments.
This whole thing is deeply disturbing to me. The media is using the FOIA in a manner a police department supposedly cannot use a search warrant. This is a fishing expedition to discover criminal activity. If they find something, as I understand the law, they can turn it over to federal or state prosecutors to be used in any prosecution. However Obama’s records remain mysteriously sealed.
The Palin emails are THE LEAD STORY on the MSM Nightly News networks right now.
Yo! Obama! Where’s this “transparency?”
You know, if you want to be President, I think you should put everything out there for all to see. It should be a prerequisite! The Media should demand Obama’s stuff, especially because it is so murky and weightless. If he had a 40 year political career maybe his college records would be less important, but this guy in very young, had a very short time in politics, had no bills proposed under his name, cloistered himself in a controversial church, gave speeches on behalf of terrorist leaders (e.g. L.A. Times kept a recording of his speech a secret - that would have given American’s a big clue about his foreign policy beliefs), hid all his travel records, his school records, etc...
The media really screwed us with this guy. They should not give him another pass. If I could get 1 more thing from Donald Trump it would be that he press this issue.. indeed it would have been more important than his birth record.
What am I missing here? How is all this not completely illegal? Sarah is a private citizen and nobody has a right to her private mail. A governor’s business mail also has to be off limits to the general public. the only place any of this should be seen is by an ethics panel sitting for a specific violation. This is morally wrong. I am livid even though I know that Sarah will be vindicated. Still the danger is there for them to manufacture something.
Well the MSM did more investigating of totally unknown Joe the plumber Wurzelbacher in 24 hours than they did of Baraq in 24 months.
Non illegitimus carborundum.
We’re gonna kick their @ss in 2012.
I don’t know all the details here - it looks like they filed an FOIA request for the emails of the governor. I suppose now she is out of office it is archival and property of the state. I tend to agree with you, but, I also believe if you are going to run for President you should volunteer almost everything. No secrets. Secrecy is bad for the Republic and the last thing we should want is a slickster who hides his past. Somehow the Media hates the Republic and hates Conservatism and so they will be complicit in all kinds of coverups and games to protect their candidate. Glad for the internet to ruin them.
LOL. All is well for now. The media got caught in their own trap. Hahahaha. They are complaining because Sarah’s lawyers did NOT redact the information on the people sending Sarah the e-mails. It’s a hoot.
