Sarah Palin's emails underscore polarizing effect
Los Angeles Times ^ | June 11, 2011 | By Matea Gold and Tom Hamburger, Washington Bureau

.....Taken together, the email correspondence underscores Palin's polarizing effect long before she was a ubiquitous figure on the national political stage.

Palin's disgust with the media was apparent as soon as she was tapped to be Sen. John McCain's running mate — a decision that happened with a suddenness that seemed to take her and her aides by surprise as much as it did much of the country.

"Can you believe it!" Palin wrote to one aide who had sent her a congratulatory email. "He told me yesterday — it moved fast! Pray! I love you."

She was much less in love with the media swarm that came with the nomination. She and aides objected when a blizzard of questions from reporters included queries about her favorite poem and the tanning bed in the governor's mansion. "Arghhhh!" Palin responded, noting she had paid for the tanning bed and was "dismayed at the media."

The darker side of her newfound fame was evident too, as the governor fielded several vicious threats against her life — all of which she forwarded to her aides without comment.

At the other end of the spectrum, the messages include many adoring missives from supporters around the country who, even before she joined the 2008 presidential ticket, saw her as a rising star.

It’s rather funny all the excitement about these e-mails as if it was a smoking gun. Now that they have them the only thing they can play up is the tanning bed making sure to neglect to mention she paid herself and her distaste for the media. This is ironic since they recruited volunteers to go thru her recycle bin.
How many other politicians has the press done this to? I might even buy one of their worthless papers or watch their propaganda disguised as news if they had Nancy Pelosi’s e-mails during the Obamacare debates or Barney Franks during the Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac days.

I agree. What I’m saying is “polarizing” is a manufactured term by the Left, apparently agreed to by the MSM. It’s a word they’ve applied over and over to Palin, and I can’t think of anyone else it’s been applied that often.

It’s the same as when Schumer said he was “instructed” by the DNC to call Republicans “extreme.” They want the word polarizing to stick to Palin, when Obama has polarized the nation.

Any chance we can see Obama’s e-mails from his days in the Illinois legislature?

I am done. Palin in 2012. Our best chance. Rush is right. MSM fear is our best indicator of a good POTUS.

i have been one who has been fairly vocal that she cannot be the nominee...for various reasons.

But I am done too. Screw them. Palin / Cain in 2012.

There is a reason for this level of fear and hate...and I think the Madison, WI speech proved it to me. The media KNOWS that if she is the nominee...they will have to give her coverage and her message will resonate with everyone.

The MSM isn't stupid...they are corrupt and evil. They want to stop her before she can be nominated...because once she is...everyone in the middle pays attention and they will be electrified by her words...just as the middle was electrified (but in this case duped) by Obama's speeches in '08.

Yep...we must nominate her.

Palin's disgust with the media

My disgust with the media boiled over in 2003 when they reported that George Bush's surprise trip to Iraq in November to feed Thanksgiving turkey to the soldiers was just a political stunt. Then one day later when Hillary went to stand around in the green zone they said she was so brave and heroic. I hate, I hate, I hate TV news!

Palin's disgust with the media was apparent

... as is mine.

The MSM jumped on these emails hoping to hit pay dirt. They got nothing.

I'd rate the MSM below used car dealers, even below pimps. Perhaps I'd rate the MSM slightly above murderers or rapists, but not by much, as the MSM practices murder and rape by proxy.

Sarah, your mission, should you decide to accept it, (OH, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE ACCEPT IT,) is to become the greatest president this country has seen since the days of our Founding.
We, the People stand shoulder to shoulder with you and in so doing, we WILL take our Country back.
The Second Revolution starts NOW!

Exactly. What the MSM are saying is Palin has views that are not their views. Anyone to the right of Stalin is "polarizing" to the MSM.

I'm comfortable that she'll do the right thing. She has so far.

“Rush Limbaugh: “Liberals always tell you which conservatives they fear most.”....

Exactly! THEY fear HER because they know that, despite their best efforts to destroy her.... she could, and will, take out their guy... “the one THEY were waiting for.”

What really gets me is how many... so many.... who really believe they are conservatives...fall for their tactics, hook, line and sinker.

A couple of days ago I was listening to Rush and this woman, a conservative, called in. Said, in effect, that what she didn’t like about Palin was all the ‘drama’ she surrounds herself with. My mouth dropped open, I screamed at the radio...”You idiot! You’re falling for it... you’re letting THEM define who she is, not what SHE says.”

An establishment ‘R’ cannot defeat Obama. Any candidate endorsed by the ‘regulars’ will be chewed up and spit out as soon as the nomination is achieved.... Well they have been chewing on Palin, AND her family for quite awhile now. And they cannot beat her. The LSM is counting on us to do the spitting out. And so many of ‘ours’ fall for it. This SO ticks me off!

I am not getting my hopes up until she announces she will run. I am also praying West decides to run. We’ll just have to keep waiting.

I think this might work to Palin’s favor. Everybody knows they would hate to have their emails gone through, and it’s so hypocritical that they’ve singled this one person out.

That being said, just a warning to ANYONE who works for a company or the gov’t (local, state, or federal) for that matter. Your emails can be looked at by your company (if you’re using the company email address), no laws broken. Now if you work for the government, then you’ve got Palin’s problem of “public information”...so the world can see them if they are released.
