Rehab Just a PR Stunt? Anthony Weiner is Getting Treatment
33tv ^

Rep. Anthony Weiner says he's taking a leave of absence to get treatment. Is he doing it to get help or just to save face?

Rep. Anthony Weiner says he's taking a leave of absence, and he's getting treatment. You can add him to the long list of political sex scandals.

So, does he really want the help or is it just a PR stunt?

"I think this is a prank to make fun of my name. When you're named 'Weiner,' that happens a lot," said Weiner, just days before admitting to sending suggestive photos to women on the internet.

The first step is denial. Just ask family therapist Melody Brooke.

"When you realize you can no longer deny it, you have to tell the truth. You have to speak up," said Brooke, who specializes in sex addiction.

It was Weiner's denial (after denial) that had political strategists cringing on the sidelines.

"Where Congressman Wiener made a tremendous error, after he made a tremendous error in his personal judgement, was he made a tremendous error in his professional judgement," said political strategist Camara Clifton with the Magnolia Group.

Once you're caught, if you lie about it, then people really pay attention.

Who can forget this now famous statement by President Bill Clinton: "I did not have sexual relations with that woman."

"This firestorm, which has probably caused more anguish to everybody than it had to, would cause anguish, but not to this degree. It could have been a blip on the radar, if it would have been handled properly," said Clifton.

Clifton says it looks like Weiner's now headed in the right direction. Last week, he admitted to sending the pictures, and apologized. Like other political scandals, there is a PR formula.

"You have to publicly apologize, you have to ask for forgiveness, and, then you have to pay a penance somehow. Repubilcans resign. Democrats go to rehab," said Clifton.

"I've made pretty serious mistakes and I need to redeem myself and I'm working hard to try to get back to normal," said Weiner.

Now, Weiner's headed for treatment. Brooke just hopes he actually means it.

"I'm glad that he recognizes that he has a problem. that addiction is the problem. now, whether he recognizes it, or it's a pr trick, i don't know. either way, at least he's going to be talking to some people who will hold him accountable for his behavior.

Either way, it's one step to getting back in the public's good graces.

"The american public is extraordinarily forgiving. We have short memories, especially in politics, and we believe everybody deserves a second chance," said Clifton.

Weiner’s track record regarding the “truth” is not very good.

We’re supposed to dismiss his (and all “special” people’s) moral depravity because they go to “rehab”.

Rehab implies that their moral failings are a sickness, ie NOT THEIR FAULT!

Of course not! These people are special! Our moral and intellectual superiors! They have to be treated that way!

I hear the wires running from testicles to a car battery is good therapy for Weiner’s condition.

Smoke them a bit and then Weiner only has has his mouth to blame if he gets into anymore trouble.

I’m not sure it’s possible to rehabilitate utter stupidity.

“I think this is a prank to make fun of my name. When you’re named ‘Weiner,’ that happens a lot.”

And just think how much worse he’s made it in the future for people named Weiner. He’s taken a juvenile joke and ressurected it with a new backstory. How pathetic. A cushy position in Congress and *that’s* what he has accomplished. Well done, sir, well done.

My bet is that he will hide out during the summer recess, come back after Labor Day with a very low profile and hang on until November, 2012. If he still has a district he will get re-elected. Then he will state, accurately, that the system works, his constisuents have decided.

His constituents elected him to represent them. If he’s in a
treatment center he can’t do that. There ought to be a groundswell of folks demanding him to resign, and let someone do the job.

A Jew married to a Moslem who consulted with Clinton and Obama about his penis? How in the HELL will a therapist unwind all of THAT Freudian garbage?

Since Wiener has talked to both Obama and Clinton, and they had a three-way about what is means to have your penis discussed in the public domain (Gurnee, Lewinsky, Twitter), Weiner may be all talked-out - he spoke with all the known resident experts in the field of press coverage of a politician's penis (Uncle Teddy was unavailable, and Arnold is too far removed).

Bottom Line? Not curable. He waited till he was 46 to get married. He has been doing this for years. He is a narcissist of the worst kind. He sings three verses of “You’re Just To Good to Be True” in the mirror every morning. He will die a very lonely man.

Weiner checked himself into "Fecal Manor" for observation.

You can always tell when a liberal is in deep doo-doo---they go into their tried-and-true "Victimization Act." Watch Weiner pull out (no pun intended) "Victimization---a Play in Four Acts" to pin the blame for his travails on others. Weiner's second act.......he'll try to extort taxpayers and/or get the courts to bail him out.

THE EPITOME OF CHUTZPAH----Another ruse in the "Victimization Act"is to refocus voters' attention by creating new victims. WEINER actually came up with some kind of Sexual Predator Bill to protect innocent people from perverts like himself. Next Weiner will start a non-profit for those "victimized by sexual abuse."

Seems to me, “Tough Tony” makes fun of his own name.

Using first grade German, the correct spelling for “Weener” should be “Wiener,” i.e., a resident of Vienna.

“Weiner,” is pronounced “Winer” in German-—not quite “Whiner,” but close-—refers to somebody involved with wine.

Of course, the “w” becomes “v” in Deutsch.

I don’t know what his parents call themselves but it looks suspiciouly like the bitchy congressman doesn’t want to be orally called “Rep. Whiner,” so he came up with the “Weener” pronunciation for “Weiner.”

Tony, if your name is a problem and a temptation for comedy, CHANGE IT!

More Political Correctness to attempt to diminish the impact of his acts!

He made no errors!

An error is An act, assertion, or belief that unintentionally deviates from what is correct, right, or true.

To be an error, the conduct must be unintentional.

He will pay a private center.

But that addiction -behavior is very hard to treat and his character of generally lying and the narcisism makes it even more difficult.
