White House says Weiner behavior 'distraction'

WASHINGTON -- Rep. Anthony Weiner's behavior has been "inappropriate" and "a distraction," the White House said Monday as the House returned to work for the first time since eruption of the sexting scandal that has brought calls for the New York Democrat's resignation.

White House spokesman Jay Carney wouldn't say whether President Barack Obama believes Weiner should resign - as other Democratic leaders have said.

Weiner is on a temporary leave of absence, in treatment for an undisclosed disorder at an undisclosed location. He has acknowledged exchanging messages and photos that ranged from sexually suggestive to explicit, with several women online. The latest to surface appeared on the gossip website TMZ.

"The president feels, we feel in the White House, that this is a distraction, obviously," Carney said in response to questions from reporters traveling with the president on Air Force One to North Carolina. "As Congressman Weiner has said himself, his behavior was inappropriate, his dishonesty was inappropriate. But the president is focused on his job which is getting the economy continuing to grow, creating jobs, and obviously ensuring the safety and security of the American people."

Monday motorist alert: Expect traffic delays with President Obama’s visit to Miami today [excerpt] With President Obama’s scheduled visit to Miami late Monday afternoon, commuters and other motorists should be prepared for plenty of delays and traffic tie-ups if they are traveling in around downtown Miami or on Miami Beach’s Alton Road.

Tuesday morning may also present some traffic headaches because Obama is staying overnight in Miami before traveling to Puerto Rico. He is scheduled to depart from Miami International Airport on Air Force One at about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

In Miami Beach, no parking will be allowed on Alton Road, between 43rd and 63rd Streets, beginning at noon. The parking restrictions will not be lifted until 7 p.m. [end excerpt]

I ask if Weiner did nothing inappropriate as he continually asserted, why does he need “treatment” then?

He parsed his words: “To make him a better husband and a healthier husband”.

Weasel words.

Notice no one in the media is asking Obama or even pressing the question. The Bush administration would have been hounded from day one and then later somehow implicated in it.

Must be great to be a democrat in power.

The fact he is still hanging around tells me Weiner knows where some bodies are buried, has the dirt on key Democrats and is pushing back.

Have not been this entertained since The Sopranos went off the air.

Weiner’s behavior is exemplary of leftist “morality”, not a distraction.

Federal tweeting has dropped 30% since Weiner's work load was uncovered.

It’s interesting he’s going to Puerto Rico. The president there now is doing everything totally contrary to Obama’s policies and the economy is beginning to turn around.

I’d love to be a fly on the wall during that meeting.

Mr. Wonderful has been trying to work on his short game, but all of this
Weiner stuff has kept him from concentrating on what really matters: golf.

There is no more money to keep saving the union jobs at the state level. They are pretty much on their own now as the trillion dollars in stimulus is running out. ( Why they are introducing schemes to tax the internet, etc.)

In my town they are tearing up a large portion of state road and repaving it. THIS WAS DONE 5 YEARS AGO and there was nothing wrong with the road. Lets make some work for our comrades. Cops are everywhere with speed traps and waiting at stop signs hoping someone will not stop fully. A friend of mine with a police scanner tells me they are running hundreds of license plates a day.

Welcome to the United States of Obama!

This is a campaign trip to court the votes of Puerto Rican immigrants or those of Puerto Rican descent. Florida is not a given for The One.
