Posted on 06/13/2011 1:41:42 PM PDT by Hunton Peck
Rep. Fred Clark (D-Baraboo), running in a recall election against Senator Luther Olsen, was caught on tape last week saying he would like to "smack around" a woman in his district.
The comment was recorded on the home answering machine of Sue and John Stapelman of Baraboo. Clark phoned the family while making campaign calls, and had a short, curt conversation with Sue Stapelman. Stapelman then hung up the phone, but her answering machine was still rolling, and caught Clark saying, "I feel like calling her back and smacking her around."
John Hogan, director of the Committee to Elect a Republican Senate, said "This disturbing and inappropriate comment gives us an unfortunate glimpse of what Representative Clark is like when he thinks no one is listening. Domestic violence is a devastating problem in our state , and abuse is on the rise. To be able to so freely threaten violence against a woman, even in jest, shows a tremendous lack of character.
Coupled with his record of killing jobs and increasing spending, the mounting evidence of Fred Clarks recklessness and lack of common sense will be flatly rejected by voters at the polls this summer.
Transcription of call from Fred Clark:
[Answering machine picks up the call, then Sue Stapelman picks up phone]
FC: Hi, this, uh, Ms. Stapelton?"
SS: Yes it is.
FC: Hi, this is Representative Fred Clark.
FC: Yes, I just want to give you and John a call again tonight. You may know Im running against Luther Olsen here in the recall election in the 14th Senate District.
SS: Yeah, isnt that a crime. [hangs up]
[Answering machine still recording]
FC: Ok. I feel like calling her back and smacking her around.
Fred is dead!
He is all that we expect from democrats.
I don’t see what the big deal is. He’s a Dem so clearly an idiot regardless but having said that, he could have meant verbally “smack her around”. I’ve used that phrase before myself.
Real men don’t hit women.
Wow, he’s real classy. The consummate gentleman.
Her hubby may confront the goofball and tell him to try to slap him around then proceed to beat Mr. Clark into a pulp.
Right. He meant he was going to call her back and physically hit her over the phone.
Real men club them over the head and drag them back to the cave where they do what they want, and then make them cook dinner for them.
Assembly Democrats, from left, state Rep. Kelda Helen Roys, D-Madison, state Rep. Gary Hebl, D-Sun Prairie, background, and state Rep. Fred Clark, D-Baraboo, show the first signs of outrage as their Republican counterparts cut off debate and voted on the budget repair bill state Assembly at the state Capitol in Madison, Wis., early Friday morning, Feb. 25, 2011.
If there's anything to be gleaned from the call, it's that the union-owned Dems are so immersed in a thuggish way of thinking that that kind of language just spews out of them with no provocation and no meaning. They can't help it. Kind of the way leftist bloggers drop the "F" bomb all over their screeds -- more of a verbal tic than an actual expression of anything.
Make a woman treated like that cook for you? No wonder the Neanderthals died out.
Let a woman try to bite the artery in your wrist and see if you don’t nail her ass to the floor.
Correct and that aint a real man.
I would subscribe to the pay per view on that.
“Real men dont hit women.”
One of the jobs I had while in collage was as a bouncer in a disco (I hate discos) and the women were the worst, most violent people I had to deal with. I’ve been kicked, bitten, smacked and had glasses (whiskey) thrown at me.
I must not be a ‘real man’ because I’ve hit several women and held them for the police.
I have had my arguments with Mr. Clark and my personal opinion he does not belong in government.
“...[Clark] does not belong in government.”
So . . . you’re saying that’s a bad thing?
Prol'ly Been known to threatened to "...crawl through the phone, reach in, and tear your tonsils out...," to a few wnwanted/rude callers.
These decades, that would be construed a "terroristic threat".
My Dad taught meover 50 years ago that “A gentlemen NEVER strikes a lady.”
However, if a female person hits you without extreme provocation, she ain’t no lady and all bets are off.
Still makes sense to me.
Also, of course, no gentleman would ever offer extreme provocation to a lady.
I've had a few that have behaved that way with me, for the short (relatively) part of my life I was obliged to deal with such...plus a few with knives, empty bottles; once even a pistol, though that was pointed (not aimed) at a third party, not me.
An armed, attacking perp gets what they get, and tough.
"Thugs is genderless!"
