[Unwed] Desperate mother-of-three sells handwritten letter from Obama to avoid being evicted
The Daily Mail ^ | June 15, 2011 | Rachel Quigley

Posted on 06/15/2011 6:11:51 AM PDT by grundle

The 26-year-old was an avid campaigner for Mr Obama in 2008, getting T-shirts made and encouraging people in her neighbourhood to vote.

She said: 'I campaigned for him hard. I got the shirts made, the Barack the Vote shirts made. We've done a lot.'

It was about half way into the President's term that things took a downward spiral for her.

Her third baby was born prematurely with health problems and with limited daycare options she could no longer work.

Her partner also left around this time.

With nowhere else to turn, she decided to write the President a letter.

She told him she was optimistic for change when she campaigned for him and that now she feels her future is bleak and unpromising. Despite this she also praised the President and his efforts.

She wrote: 'I do think people are coming down too hard on you and your administration. An eight-year mess cannot be fixed in only two years’ time.

'I am still behind you 100 per cent and so is my family. My dad is a disabled Vietnam Veteran and he tells my seven-year-old son, Silas, that he should strive to be just like you.

To Ms Mathis' surprise, she received a handwritten response from the President shortly after.

He told her that she had a 'positive spirit', that she inspired him and promised her that things would get better for her and her family.

But now, eight months later, things have not improved and she is being forced to sell the letter in the hope that she can avoid eviction.

She said: 'We need to move as soon as possible. We need a three bedroom. I'm not working, so no-one is giving me a chance.'

“Her third baby was born prematurely with health problems and with limited daycare options she could no longer work.”

Sorry to hear that, I have been there. Guess what, we managed. My son was born at 32 weeks. FAMILY helped us get by.

“Her partner also left around this time.”
WTF is a “partner”? You mean she didn’t have a husband?

“With nowhere else to turn, she decided to write the President a letter.”

Well.. He did offer to buy a woman a house I guess. However, the president is the LAST person I’d send a letter to when it comes to a personal problem. The first call I’d make is to family and friends.

“’I am still behind you 100 per cent and so is my family, My dad is a disabled Vietnam Veteran and he tells my seven-year-old son, Silas, that he should strive to be just like you.”

Thanks for your service dad but the whole bunch of you are ficking idiots if you think Zero is going to do ANYTHING for you.

Given that, in this state, when you have 3 kids and no job they shower all sorts of “benefits” on you. Perhaps she should stop with the letter writing and fill out a welfare application.

One last thing.

‘We need to move as soon as possible. We need a three bedroom. I’m not working, so no-one is giving me a chance.’

to don’t NEED a 3 bedroom. you WANT one. I suggest you go out and get a damn job. My family of 4 lived in 1 br for 6 months because it was all we could afford at the time.

Looked at eBay for “signed Obama” stuff. Lots of stuff with a high “Buy it Now” price (Hoping for Change?, but the only thing that was bid on was a signed copy of one of ihs books for around $175.00.

She’s going to need more than that to pay the rent!

With no husband in the picture, she decides to have a third child?

“She said: ‘I am just a little bit weary of the promises that (Obama) has made. I really haven’t been seeing any kind of changes that affect me directly.”

The Lord helps those who help themselves.

>>She’s going to need more than that to pay the rent!<<

In the article it says this would be worth $11,000. Seems high to me but I am not a collectibles expert. Maybe she can go on Pawn Stars and Rick can call in one the experts he seems to always have immediately available... ;)

Someone should tell her modern science has finally figured out what causes children to be conceived.

I think what she’s “weary” of is that the “promises” that 0bama supporters INFERRED (getting that big check from The Man) weren’t ever intended to happen,

but that 0bama nor his campaign team never disabused their voters of.

“Boo friggin’ hoo!!! No sympathy here. I HOPE THAT THE PEOPLE WHO WORKED, AND VOTED, FOR OBAMA GET HIT FIRST AND HARDEST. “

I agree 100%. Sadly, those idiots won’t realize their vote made their situation worse.

Is this even true?

Back in (I believe) 2010, it was Jennifer Cline from Monroe, Michigan writing to Obama and then selling the letter he sent to her.

$11,000 for a handwritten, Idi Obama on White House stationary, platitude for her attitude?

That's the ticket!

Idi Obama can "write off" the national debt with just 1,272,272,272,272, give or take a few trillion, personal "atta boy/girl/it letters!

Wouldn’t it be a kick in the butt to find out that her “handwritten letter” was done by a secretary?

Look at the "B" in the God Bless...and look at the "B" of Barack's signature. They sure don't match. If this letter fetches anything, the buyer is stupid. It is most likely written by a WH staffer and one of the thousands of pieces signed by BO who probably never saw her letter.

Beyond that...the woman does not know the difference between "fare" and "fair." Not surprising. They only know the word fair...as in...It isn't fair that the gub'ment does not support me and all my kids even though I don't work, there is no daddy around, I never married and just got pregnant when I wanted (no thought of pregnancy protection), and my father is a Vietnam Vet...so I should get all I want - forever - from the gub'ment. That's only fair!

Boy, the liberal media sure has gotten that “8-year mess” beaten firmly into the minds of the stupid...

The Bush Economy was FINE for 6 years until the democraps took over Congress and bad-mouthed it into the tank, helped by the Democrap Barney Frank’s housing disaster (which NO ONE has been held accountable for)

Bush AND McCain tried to fix the housing crisis BEFORE it happened (in 2006) only to be beaten down by the Democraps in Congeress.

The mantra that it was “Bush’s Fault” is 100% LIE and the stupid pussies in the GOP let the liberal media get away with it year after year after year

NO ONE IN THE GOP will get a dime from me until ONE OF THEM SPEAKS THE TRUTH ABOUT THIS

I think Palin will.

Who needs a husband when you can have the US taxpayer pay your bills? If anything, shouldn't this dam be getting child support payments from her various sires? Why are we as taxpayers always on the hook for children that we did not go through the fun of making ourselves?

A full handwritten letter is worth more than just a signature, and the topic of the letter also adds value. $11,000 sounds way too high to me, though. That sounds more like something from Roosevelt or Eisenhower.
