First kittens, then puppies and hamsters and now goldfish?
San Francisco's Animal Control and Welfare Commission is recommending that the City ban the sale of goldfish, tropical fish and guppies in its borders, according to Matier and Ross.
The recommendation to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors is part of the commission's ongoing efforts to discourage "impulse buys" of animals.

It certainly is, though SF’s illness is spreading like wildfire.
So let’s see...they’ve banned smoking and Happy Meals, and they’re trying to ban circumcision and goldfish.
I know there’s a joke in there somewhere, but I just can’t put it together. Maybe some other FReeper can come up with a real knee-slapper (is knee-slapping still allowed in SF?)

I know the land of nuts and fruits continues to sink into depravity and stupidity, but really.

The mindset of these liberals is one, where you cannot use irony, sarcasm, or parody to describe what they are doing.
All you end up doing is giving them ideas.
The goldfish, in their right mind, might object to the idea of being a nice and light snack.
There is some irony here. The people who are most supportive of top down control of every aspect of other people’s lives are the same people who reject rules as not applying to them. So they probably will continue to have all kinds of pets, even while trying to deny others the joys of pet ownership.
While those idiots are trying to ban the sale of pet fish, I wonder if they ever considered what the effect on fish would be from having to ride in a plastic bag for a prolonged period, while the owner fights traffic for hours to bring their new pet(s) home from one of the surrounding towns?
