Al-Qaeda names Zawahiri to succeed bin Laden

DUBAI — Al-Qaeda on Thursday named Egyptian surgeon Ayman al-Zawahiri to succeed slain leader Osama bin Laden and vowed no let-up in its deadly "jihad" against arch-foes the United States and Israel.
"The general command of Al-Qaeda announces, after consultations, the appointment of Sheikh Ayman al-Zawahiri as head of the group," the jihadist network said in a statement posted on an Islamist website.
Zawahiri, the group's long-time number two, succeeds bin Laden who was killed by US commandos in a May 2 raid in Pakistan.
The statement said that under Zawahiri's leadership Al-Qaeda would relentlessly pursue its "jihad" (holy war) against the United States and Israel.
"We seek with the aid of God to call for the religion of truth and incite our nation to fight ... by carrying out jihad against the apostate invaders ... with their head being crusader America and its servant Israel, and whoever supports them," said the statement.
The fight would continue "until all invading armies leave the land of Islam."

The general command of Al-Qaeda?.....
What the hell is that?....three camels and a goat?
Was this decision the result of a general election? Were all the ballots counted? Did all the Al Qaeda precincts results come in? Was there any demands for a recount? No mater, just aim at the bump on his head.
Z has a number of limitations that we can exploit. The original was UBL's muj buddies, they still control UBL's money and will distribute it worldwide to jihadists, only on a cooperative basis with Z and his Egyptians.
Z is obviously in Pakistan, he was smart enough to marry into the Pakhtuns and join up with the Haqqani's. We will not dig him out easily, UBL's demise was more predictable. Z feels so safe he decided to stay in drone areas.
The Egypotians are not well liked by either the AF or Pak Taliban and have very little to do with Omar's Taliban.
Z will hold out with the Haqqani's and Hekmatyr, begging for money from UBL's muj and laying low.
