Tim Pawlenty Attacked by Activists With Glittery Confetti in San Francisco
The Los Angeles Times ^ | Thursday, June 16, 2011 | Andrew Malcolm

Posted on 06/16/2011 6:50:01 PM PDT by kristinn

Tim Pawlenty was minding his own business running for president, signing books at an American Health Insurance conference Thursday when two women representing Reproductive Rights and CODEPINK sprinkled pink, glittery confetti on the former Minnesota governor.

Complaining that the Republican doesn't have "the courage to stand up for gay rights and women's reproductive rights," the two women opened manila folders filled with confetti and doused the man who in 2010 vetoed a Minnesota bill that would have allowed gay couples the right to the remains of their deceased partner.

The main attacker is Code Pinko Nancy Mancias. Code Pink is crossing the line from aggressive non-violence to violence. Just like their pals in the Weather Underground. One day their Hamas allies will get them to wear suicide bomb vests.

Complaining that the Republican doesn't have "the courage to stand up for gay rights and women's reproductive rights ...

Is there any evidence that Mr. Pawlenty secretly supports "gay rights and women's reproductive rights"? If not, then he's simply stating what he believes is correct, however much courage that takes. (It would depend on how frightened truth-telling makes him, I suppose.)

ABC News has more:

Mancias and Byers are members of CODEPINK, an anti-war activist group known for its protests and demonstrations. CODEPINK founder Medea Benjamin told ABC News the glittering was planned to bring attention to the need for equal rights for all as well as singling out Pawlenty for his views on gay marriage.

“This is the home of Harvey Milk,” Benjamin said. “This is where people flock around the country to be able to live freely and express themselves as gay and lesbian people. It’s the place where we respect each other and celebrate diversity and to have Tim Pawlenty be there spewing what we consider homophobic attitudes and non inclusive policies in opposition to gay marriage is an affront to people in the Bay area and around the country who believe in equal rights for all.”

So long as he’s not caught on video cringing, diving under a table or something, he should be able to make political hay of this out in the real world.

They’ve been trying mightily to inject some excitement into a thus far moribund campaign, well here it is.

They should be arrested...and charged. The victim has no idea what is in the manila envelope. It could be poison. If Republicans are too timid to arrest their attackers for fear of being criticized by the media or whatever special interest group, it shines a light into how they might back down in fights on legislation put forth to give special benefits to those groups.

How about a couple of off duty police matrons? Video of Code Pinko ho’s getting the cr@p beat out of them by female bodyguards wouldn’t cost him any votes.

I hate how the language gets twisted and muddled.

Is anyone here against women’s reproductive rights? I know they are using that term as a euphemism for abortion, but words matter. I think you can oppose abortion on demand, as espoused by Roe vs. Wade, but still support women getting all the reproductive healthcare services they need, to help them have successful reproduction (pregnancy).

Is anyone here against civil rights for homosexuals? Meaning all of our civil rights, such as freedom of speech? Can’t you be in favor of homosexuals having all the rights we all have, without wanting to change the definition of marriage? Again they muddle an issue of “civil rights” with how we will define marriage.

Liberals should be called out on these word games. If you favor abortion on demand, then say so. Don’t hide behind terms such as women’s reproductive health services.

Let no one forget how Code Pinko’s co-founder is linked with Obama, as a 2008 top campaign bundler.

What I want to know is, where is the security for these candidates? First Newt, then this.

What was Pawlenty doing in the Gay Bay to begin with? Did he think he could enter a toilet w/o coming out smelling like shyt?

Kalifornistan will go to the democRAT candidate in 2012; there is no reason why any Republican should campaign here.

Why Don’t Gay Men Talk about their Lifestyle average of Death 45 Years a 50-50 Chance to make it to 65 yrs old. Monogomay means 5 or fewer Partners. Gay Marriage is a ruse
