Bobby Jindal warns against 'hating' Barack Obama

NEW ORLEANS — Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal diverged from the red meat attacks on President Obama that have characterized the Republican Leadership Conference to caution conservative activists that they ought not demonize the president in the fashion some liberals did President Bush.

Jindal recalled what he said were the "shrill, absurd and negative rhetoric" employed by the left during the eight years Bush was in office.

"We must not mimic their shallow approach," he said to modest applause in a Friday afternoon speech here.

Jindal, who just turned 40, is up for re-election this fall and is widely assumed by the state's political class to have national ambitions.

So even while tut-tutting the more sharp-edged attacks on Obama, he mixed in reassurance that he wasn't sympathizing with the president's policies.

You’ve just made a powerful argument against political message boards — on a political message board. Please see the various messages with scriptures that trump yours.

Sorry, but I hate, loathe, and f*rt in his general direction. I want to live longer than the Obamaloon so that I can take an Obama on his grave.

I only encountered him a couple of times. I liked him, and he struck me as very bright, but also as a mild and even timid personality. Great support guy, weak executive. This came to the fore when he submitted to federal obstruction during the oil spill. That event showed his true mettle . . . unfortunately. Indignation is not authority or power.

I agree. The guy is personally popular, just as Bush was. I have plenty of doubts about his integrity, but it is a hard message to get across that he is a fool.

Hate is a very powerful and self destructive emotion.

Hate eats it’s host, can wound the soul and is very unforgiving.

An enemy that works around the clock doing his very best at destroying my country, stealing my treasure, and the treasure, Freedoms, Liberty and futures of generations yet unborn, is seen my me as a bad thing.

Doing what you can to turn my children and grandchildren into slaves of the state is just not something I want to hug you for doing.

A person in power that deliberately ignores my constitution and put’s my Freedom and Liberty at risk, is a turn off to me and it won’t get me to smile.

I could go on.

You see, I didn’t begin to hate Obama and his damn democrats with the extreme cause that THEY personally inspired.

Now, I sure don’t like hating, but I sure do.

The only good news I have for those I hate, is that I love my freedom and I don’t feel dangerous....

Agreed. We must use logic and logic to attack dear leader, not insanity.

Yes, Doctor 2Brains, I do.

> Jindal’s point is probably that we should attack Obama on the issues where he is actually vulnerable (the economy), and not waste a bunch of time trying to drive down his personal negatives when it seems pretty clear the public will probably continue liking him personally even if we defeat him.<

With due respect, that is not Jindal’s point IMO. I think he’s pulling a McCain on us, or a Huntsman. And besides, I disagree with the idea that his personal popularity is untouchable anyway. Perhaps its untouchable because so many people have been convinced its untouchable that they are too danged scared to touch it.

Well Bobby, we believe in the Goose Gander rules and you will not be president, so don’t ever think about it.

I wish your parents were naturalized before your birth but, they weren’t.

Luv ya but, sorry.

Huh? Don’t hate the haji who is trying to destroy your way of life, your country, your freedoms... and is trying to take everything you’ve got, and everything your family, friends and neighbors have? Who I think is actually trying to enslave you? Get out of town! I don’t think Jindal could’ve said anything more RINO-ish.

“David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will hand you over to me, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”

If he thinks that conservatives hate Obastard JUST because he is a Rat or because he is a liberal, I have about 100 more reasons him ranging everywhere from him acting as though he is royalty to Obama care to his HORRIBLE energy and jobs policies.

“...people don’t personally hate Obama and they probably never will. Hussein’s personal approval (not job approval) numbers tend to be very high.”

Exactly. Expressing hate will only increase his poll numbers.
Isn’t there enough policy to attack?

“Everybody hates Obama, huh? Sure. The very SECOND that something bad happens to the piece of filth, we will be REQUIRED to pray for him just like Ted Kennedy, a sub-human piece of filth if ever there was one.”

As with the injunction to pray for government officials, this is easy. “May they be rewarded as they deserve.”

You are 100% right. If he had simply refused to obey the stupid Federal rules and regs around that spill, he would have been a national hero and perhaps runaway nominee for 2012. But then, he wouldn’t have been Bobby, because that’s just not Bobby. He’s so so at best.

You write for American Thinker?! That’s one of my favorite online publications! I LOVE Robin of Berkeley’s articles in particular, I bet I’ve read and enjoyed some of yours too!

Anyways, there’s a fine line between:

Hating Barack Obama, degrading his wife and children with perverse and childish remarks, etc...

AND:

being CRITICAL of Obama’s personal qualities and political policies.

Not to mention: These message boards are great way to trump up support for greats like Sarah Palin :)
