Uh oh: Romney refuses to sign pro-life group’s pledge

Doubling down on RomneyCare, confirming that he believes in climate change, now this. Say this for him: At least he’s not a total pander machine this time around. He just … seems to be in the grip of a political death wish. I can’t even explain this in terms of him wanting to stick by a position he espoused in the past in order to signal to voters that he’s “authentic” and won’t bend on his principles easily. His position, ostensibly, is that he’s pro-life. This makes him look like he’s inching back towards his pro-choice past. Is he in fact pandering to centrists here, with an eye already towards the general election, or what?

Coming soon from Pawlenty, presumably: A nasty tweet ripping Mitt for forever flip-flopping on abortion, followed by a whole lot of stammering at the next debate. Bachmann, however, just might lay him out.

The [Susan B. Anthony List] pledge also states that a candidate will, if elected president, nominate pro-life persons to “relevant Cabinet and Executive Branch positions, in particular the head of National Institutes of Health, the Department of Health & Human Services, and the Department of Justice.” Such a provision, Saul said, would restrict Romney’s ability to choose his Cabinet.

IMO Romney is a white Obama.

Might as well keep the devil we know.

I will not be voting for Romney, I have a feeling I will be writing in Sarah Palin.

So what's new? Willard's been flipping and flopping on abortion since the 1970`s!

"I RESPECT and will protect a woman's right to choose. . . . Women should be free to choose based on their own beliefs, not mine and not the government's."
~~~ Mitt Romney to NARAL, April 2002
Kick Willard to the curb.
Lets nominate a red blooded conservative.
Romney has to be crushed. He is spitting in the eye of Conservatives because he thinks the GOP is so hard up for a winning candidate it has to be him. As bad as he is now he will get worse if his poll numbers strengthen. What the Tea Parties stood for dies if this asshole is the GOP candidate.
Yep. Romney is more like a “semi-centrist” Democrat than a Republican (and nowhere near a Conservative by any standard, other than his vain attempts to CLAIM he is Conservative).
Being Conservative is a lot like being a Christian. If you have to TELL people you are (as in they cannot see it in you and your actions), then one has to wonder if you ARE one!
Ah, there are thousands of reasons to dislike Mr. Constipation.
I’m not sure I would sign the “pledge”, if I were running. I would tell people what I believe and I’d act accordingly in everything I did. I don’t want to sign no stinkin’ pledges for every group that wants one issue pushed.
“I think this proves Bachman is trying for vp. Romney thinks he can flirt with the left because he believes Bachman will bring in the conservatives.”
If so, he’s wrong... at least so far as I’m concerned. I refuse to choose between a leftist and a leftist this time around - I don’t care if one of them IS more “moderate.”
This makes him look like he’s inching back towards his pro-choice past.
I think the author shoud have used the verb “slinking” not “inching”.
Abortion is the real bottom line - at least for me.
ME TOO!!! How anyone can miss that the right to life is the very first unalienable right defended in the DOI is beyond me. I believe and pray that there are many, many other Americans that feel the same way. If it came down to Romney or Obama. I won't vote for either. I would rather write in a candidate than prove to the RINOs that this issue is a non-starter. Do ya think they will hear us then???
This doesn’t sound like the strategy of someone who thinks he’s the frontrunner so much as a near-desperation strategy of someone who’s trying to stake out unoccupied turf early in hopes that the electorate will happen to shift toward it by the primary season.
He will self implode it happened in 08. I want you folks who only want Sarah to please take another look at Michele Bachmann. She isn't a RINO she is the leader of the Tea Party Caucus in the House!!!
I'm supporting her, I love Sarah Palin. I think she is by far one of the most amazing woman in the History of the United States. She is by far the best, but due to the media trashing, Bachmann has the best shot. I will NEVER VOTE ROMNEY, I sincerely believe Michele Bachmann can do this!!! BELIEVE FOLKS!!!
I'm super lazy but for keywords can we add "mantan"?
I don't know if Mitt goes into those machines or sprays crap on him, but he clearly is changing the color of his skin using fake crap.
I'm trying to be PG but I really dislike Mitt Romney. I really am disgusted that 33% of so called "Republicans" support this absolute FRAUD!!!
Mitt Romney agrees with maybe less than 1% of my values.
My vote as of today goes to Bachmann and the Tea Party. I like Cain but he doesn't have any experience in in the Government and Bachmann has the charisma to win this!!!
Maybe he’d just like to stay “unemployed”.
In truth, he knows if he sign this all that media love from the Washington Post, CNN, etc. will vanish.
