I don't recall ever saying Rick Perry would be my first or even second choice, however I would vote for him if he won the nomination. Would you?

And I don't happen to think he is a criminal or corrupt but I do think he is a capitalist, you seem to think that is a bad word

I am right there with you TxGirl. I have not yet decided who I will vote for in the primary, even tho’ by the time Texas gets to vote, it is already decided. But I will not rule out voting for Perry.

I will not call him Gov. Goodhair either. That reminds me of the women who don't like Palin because she is better looking than they are. Could some men dislike Perry because his picture is in the dictonary under the word “handsome”? Is that possible? snort))))));)

No? What do you call the Merck incident then?

I do think he is a capitalist, you seem to think that is a bad word

I do? Where did I give that impression? Is it because you don't understand what the term 'crony capitalist' means? Crony capitalism is NOT capitalism. It is fascism. I tend to use the phrase 'crony capitalist' instead of 'fascist', because leftists have co-opted the word 'fascist' to mean 'anything that liberals don't like', which has lessened its impact.

As for Slick Rick in the general? I hope I don't have to find out the answer to that question. IMHO, if he's nominated, it won't matter who I vote for. The Dems will destroy him with scandal after scandal. There are such a shocking number of things that we know about. I shudder to think about the ones we don't.

Agreed. Perry isn’t a far left liberal and we have that in office right now - no way he could be even close to the socialist America hater we have in the White House now.

Perry is a RINO. And he won’t run unless he knows that Palin is not. Perry likes races where he has it easy.

Ok, let's dig a little deeper.
1. What has he done to make him RINO?

2. Regarding easy races, he seemed to do pretty well in 2010 in a three way race primary. He smoked Medina and a very well dug in and connected US Senator with relative ease, avoiding a runoff.

3. He's won 3 back to back elections for Governor, which is unheard of in Texas. As you well know, Texas has only had 6 republicans at the helm. Also, as you well know, Texas has tended to vote out its governors after 1 term. Perry's bucked one helluva trend, which nobody can say was easy.

Thanks for the post.

Hopefully each of those points will be fully discussed on FR.

If that is Gov. Perry's record, and his background, I don't understand the directive to force shots on every teenager in Texas, or the massive land grab approach of the Trans-Texas corridor project.

Do you have some information about those subjects, which might provide an understanding of why he directed/supported those activities?

Thanks.

Do you have proof that the Merck “deal” was something sinister? What other big horrible scandals do you know of that didn’t derail his campaign for Governor?

Are you sure you live in Texas?

Perry has been nowhere to be found on illegals or sanctuary cities. He has given illegals in-state tuition rates. Guardasil. Trans-Texas Corridor. Way too many special sessions, etc, etc.

He has been over and over the douche running against the turd sandwich. He has never had anyone challenge him that was worth a damn. This is about the only thing I can see that would help him if it was just him running against Obama. Perry would win just like he has in Texas against the likes of Kinky or that idiot Bill White. Texas went Republican in recent years as far as the "6 republicans" comment you made. He has actually had it easy. He got the job after Bush resigned and thereafter has run against lunatics or candidates that self-destruct on their own.

I don’t think I said he was a criminal or corrupt. Of course I will (hold my nose) and vote for him if he gets the nomination.

I think he’s just another entrenched RINO politician,

That was never the case, plain and simple. No teenager had to get that shot if the parents didn't want them to. People who bring this up tend to leave out that little bit of information.

Well the single issue idiots who trash Perry will be out in force...all dozen or so of them on FR... It will be the lies they propagate about Guradasil or the trans texas corrider.. Take your pick....
This Texan thinks Perry has done a good job as Governor and would make a fine President. Most of the bashers have no more experience being a leader than zero....and I wouldn’t have hired his sorry behind to be an assistant manager at a Taco Bell. BTW...I expect the same goes for most of the Perry bashers....but oh how they can criticize...of course with no alternative suggestions.

Perry is not dependable as a conservative. You are right, but I was compelled to vote for him in the 2010 primary because the TEA Party candidate would have surely lost 65-35 in the general election to Bill White. She had an extreme knack for saying dumb things, Medina is her name. I would be surprised if Perry runs for President myself.

There was no attempt to force the vaccine on anyone.
You could always opt out.

Perry has said the cervical cancer vaccine is no different than the one that protects children against polio.
“If there are diseases in our society that are going to cost us large amounts of money, it just makes good economic sense, not to mention the health and well being of these individuals to have those vaccines available,” he said.

Texas allows parents to opt out of inoculations by filing an affidavit stating that he or she objected to the vaccine for religious or philosophical reasons.

If the vaccine and TTC things are the worst things Perry has done, I can live with that.
The thing is; we need a man with crossover appeal who can WIN against the Marxist/Muslim usurper!

.

Are you sure you live in Texas?

Moved here in 1987. Lived here ever since.

Perry has been nowhere to be found on illegals or sanctuary cities.

Totally false. As you well know, that's an issue currently in the special session in Austin. The senate just passed the Perry-supported bill that would crack down on said cities.

He has given illegals in-state tuition rates.

That's probably my biggest disagreement with him.

Guardasil.

What about Guardasil? Are you mad that he allowed parents to opt their kids out of the vaccine?

Trans-Texas Corridor

As your previous well stated and detailed point, what about the TTC? It's an idea and plan and idea that the legislature evidently didn't support. It didn't go forward.

Way too many special sessions, etc, etc.

Ok, you're grasping at straws at this point. Do you suppose that they shouldn't be in special session now? Perry would be in direct violation of the Texas Constitution if he didn't call this special session.

He has been over and over the douche running against the turd sandwich.

So Gov. Perry is a douche now?

He has never had anyone challenge him that was worth a damn.

As you well know, he smoked a sitting US Senator in the primary last Spring. If you think she was a push-over, well, then we will just have to disagree with that one. She was well connected and had some pretty big backing here.

He got the job after Bush resigned...

A great observation. Yes, as the Texas Constitution states the Lt. Governor becomes the big cheese if the Governor resigns. It's not like he was hanging out with Crazy Leslie on 6th and Congress before he became governor. But, he did manage to run and get elected, and run and get re-elected, and run and get re-elected again. I guess it's just dumb luck that he keeps winning, huh?
