My senior year English teacher use to tell us that it showed the low IQ of the person. I did not grow up around people using it and I do not put up with it now. Of course, I grew up in the 1950’s when things were a lot different.

I *really* hate to stand up for the liberal here, but I don’t think that people get what she was trying to say.

The other woman was accusing her of using profanity and she was saying that she wasn’t. That she wouldn’t. That she was properly educated and that she didn’t speak that way.

That was why she was so outraged.

It would be like someone accusing me of using profanity when I didn’t and I, in my outrage, sputtered, “I’m a conservative! How dare you?”

The reactions here would be like people then rolling their eyes and saying, “That conservative thinks that she can cuss and act like an idiot.”

(This is not the *best* example because I do swear every damn day - but you get my point.)

I've always taught my children and grandchildren and others that some people use curse words when the English language fails them, when the use of the language leaves wanting for the proper words. So much for her education. I too grew up in the fifties and sixties. Wash my mouth out if I was ever caught uttering even the word damn.
