Michele Bachmann: the Tea Party Crusader Electrifying The US Right Congresswoman will come under scrutiny about hardline politics. But will she be able to reach beyond her Tea Party base?
Paul Harris, Stillwater, Minnesota Saturday 18 June 2011
Michele Bachmann addresses an Americans for Prosperity 'Cut Spending Now' rally on Capitol Hil. Photograph: Alex Brandon/AP Mary Cecconi is the only Democrat to have beaten Michele Bachmann, the rising star of the Republican right, in a popular election. "It's my claim to fame!" she laughs.
Her victory came in a race in 1999 for a seat on the school board of Stillwater, Minnesota, a tiny, picturesque river town on the banks of the Mississippi. Bachmann then known locally as a conservative education activist had unexpectedly run as part of a slate of rightwing Republicans. The move politicised what had previously been a non-partisan affair. It failed. Cecconi, the incumbent, held her position.
It was a minuscule electoral footnote yet it saw the political birth of a woman who just 12 years later is running for president and electrifying the radical right wing of the party.
Bachmann, who announced her White House run last week, and then shone in the first major Republican debate, is eclipsing Sarah Palin as the new darling of the Tea Party. She is an evangelical whose husband runs a controversial Christian counselling service. She is a Minnesota congresswoman who has vowed to repeal healthcare reform and lambasts Barack Obama as a socialist. Like Palin, she makes political capital of her role as a mother to a large family: five children of her own and more than 20 foster kids. She is also a glamorous woman in a party that is frequently dominated by older white men.

Mission complete, my love.
All I am going to say is this:
I’ve done a fair amount of vetting of MB in the last couple of days. It’s too bad I didn’t have the brains to do this BEFORE I sent money to her campaign. I’m out of work, this was a sacrifice for me. She will ensure, single handedly, that NO INDEPENDENT will come over to the GOP side. Because she appears to be a theocrat, someone who will insist on taxpayer dollars used in religious pursuits; and I never knew this about her before. It’s no shock to me that liberals like Chris Matthews are coming to her defense as I suspect they have compiled a six inch high dossier on her to use at the time of their choosing.
I’ve only been looking at her background for less than a week and even I have six months of crap on her. This is why people from Congress don’t usually run for president. She is from the MOST conservative district in MN, and she only won 52% of the vote there. Now, I understand why she only won 37% of Stillwater, her home base. Keep that in mind, she only won 37% from her hometown. Without the Palin-like attack of 2+ years.
Good grief.
There is an entire website, lefty run of course, that has been in operation since 2004....seven years. It’s an eye-opener. It also links to other websites. The difference between these and the Palin blogger hatred sites is that there is a lot of fire & brimstone on the Palin sites. Meaning unsubstantiated. The MB sites are sourced. And the further back in time that you go, the worse the news is. THIS is what they are holding back as they cheerlead for MB.
This is September for them, and she is a turkey. They intend to fatten her up, and hope the dumbass GOP buys it. They intend to carve her up, once she is the right size and put her right next to the stuffing and cranberry sauce.
I thought I posted the website, but I was mistaken:
Been around for 7 years. The further back you go, the worse it gets.
I imagine the MSM and the leftists usual suspects are practically living on this site. There is a lot there.
Every single business she has “operated” has required taxpayer funds. Every one of them.
She has NO experience in the truly free market.
And I’m not particularly interested in someone whose former employer was the IRS, going after taxpayers.
When she indicates that she was a “Federal Tax Litigator” she is correct; but what she leaves out is that she operated on behalf of the gov’t. She hides that from her speeches.
Don’t take my word for it. Google “Michele Bachmann tax attorney Christian Science Monitor”
You’ll find it.
The Palin e-mail dump and Alaska law 39.52.310(H).
The first is being dug into by hundreds of operatives. Why? Because of the second, which defines the statute of limitations on the filing of complaints of ethical violation by government officials. It reads...
"A violation of this chapter may be investigated within two years after discovery of the alleged violation."
Key words - "discovery" & "alleged".
IOW...
If there are any e-mails among the 24,000 that contain language that can be "alleged" to be indicative of an ethics violation then anybody with standing (ie, virtually anybody at all) has two full years from the "discovery" of the language to file a complaint.
The threshold is very, very low. There will be more than a few e-mails that can and will be construed or interpreted to cross the threshold.
If Palin were to declare she could be knocked off track by numerous filings that would demand her attention and her money to defend.
If they were really smart, the other side would hold off to se if she gets the nomination then start the violations claims in September 2012. One or two a week would hit her campaign like Swiftboat on steroids. It would give us four more years of destruction.
It would be foolish to think that Palin is not aware of this legal tsunami waiting to hit.
It is because of this legal reality that I don't think she will run.
Your post #35 is a good analysis of what might be going on and I agree with it.
Regarding your post #42, it would be helpful for you to post some of the links you are referring to.
I just read #43. Thanks.
Oh look, another thread completely derailed and soiled by palin shock troops.
By reading fr lately, it seems like bachmann is a bigger danger than Obama is.
What a joke.
Why not go on YouTube before basking in your ignorance as to what she has/said about co2 emissions?
Yes, if you go to that website, I won’t need to post much more.
These are from people in her district and the usual leftists (of course), but we are stupid to ignore this. The usual suspects are hoping no one notices and they intend to “treat” the nation to this information when it suits them. So far, it’s hidden, like a firecracker they will whip out later on.
She only won 52% of the vote in the most narrowly drawn and conservative district in her state. She lost 63% of her home base. (She only got 37% of Stillwater, where they know her best.)
They are fattening up MB for the slaughter. She has too much of an ego to realize this. They are holding back on her real record and saving it for the time when someone to adds her to their ticket. Then the long knives will come out. Based on what I have already learned, in case HER emails came out, she would be finished in about 30 seconds.
The futher back on that link that you go, the worse it is.
Trust me.
“further”
I made a typo.
Remember how just a few months ago the GOP congressional leadership couldn’t possibly have given the conference chair position—4th in the their leadership line—to Bachmann because of her gaping lack of experience and political qualifications? (Has anyone even heard from or seen Jeb Hensarling, the good-old-boy insider who was given the position instead, since?)
Now all of a sudden she’s a compelling force for the presidency who cannot be denied?
I really don’t see how anyone can doubt her anti-Palin stalking-horse deal at this point.
By “legal tsunami”, you mean those fabricated
by Team Romney and Team Obama?
[the ‘red’ and ‘blue’ battalions of Team Soros].
read the law and draw your own conclusion.
I’m reading now and will reply later.
RINO Bachmann is a saboteur for Romney.
Granted, that will happen no matter who the GOP nominates.
But beware of Greeks bearing gifts.
They were carving her up no less than 3 months ago. And now they love her? Come on, people.... Add Rollins and Rove to the equation and something isn’t right.
