State lawmakers have passed a bill that allows Texans to skirt federal efforts to promote more efficient light bulbs, which ultimately pushes the swirled, compact fluorescent bulbs over the 100-watt incandescent bulbs many grew up with. The measure, sent to Gov. Rick Perry for consideration, lets any incandescent light bulb manufactured in Texas - and sold in that state - avoid the authority of the federal government or the repeal of the 2007 energy independence act that starts phasing out some incandescent light bulbs next year. "Let there be light," state Rep. George Lavender,

Rick Perry is looking better and better to me. Bachmann is solid but she’s not going to beat Obama. Too many females will vote against her. Don’t ask me why, I can’t explain it. But Perry would trounce Obama. Texas is hiring half the people in the nation. This guy can’t lose.

If not for Texas obozo’s unemployment rate would be over 15%. They’ve created more private jobs than the rest of the Country.

Remember the Alamo

If the Eunuchs in the US House had the gonads, they would repeal garbage like the light bulb ban.

South Carolina has already done this - I have a ‘connection’ so’s I get ‘black market’ ;o)

HOWEVER, If you let your power company install the Smart Meter on your house (Check with you area - most cities, states have passed a right to opt out) - but if y ou have the Smart meter - they can capture a signal - an electric signature - that will tell them what appliances you are using...from a hari dryer and how long - too - ???the right kind of light bulb???

Then there’s the radiation exposure - better research that...

How the smart meter can tell what you are using and when - and already ‘smart’ appliances are in the market - they’ll know if you’re using ‘illegal’ lightbulbs - and how long before you’ll be required to switch over to OTHER ‘green’ products/appliances?

How many light bulb manufacturers are there in Texas?

Zero I believe but a black market may well develope as the Rio Grande isn’t that wide/deep in many places. Witness the illegals/drug traffic and crossings.

Silly Texas. Don't they know that the SCOTUS, including such heavyweights as Scalia, has used the necessary and proper clause to apply interstate commerce law to intrastate commerce, even in the case of completely non-commercial activity?

Where necessary to make a regulation of interstate commerce effective, Congress may regulate even those intrastate activities that do not themselves substantially affect interstate commerce.

Oh but doncha know it’s that all-inclusive “commerce clause” and the absent-but-obvious “right to privacy”

I hate those damn twisty, dim yellow bulbs.

I think they are designed so old people can’t read anything, so they won’t know anything. Just the way Zero likes it - a blind, stupid, uninformed population.

And hopefully there will be a factory in Texas that will sell them over the internet. I think there’s a goldmine in there somewhere...

I wonder why they did not do this earlier-the legislation is from 2007 and you know who signed it ugh. This is one of the things Bush did that I did not agree with. Sometimes I wondered what the heck was he thinking.

Everybody knows what incandescent lights are, but America has been lighted mostly by fluorescent lights since about 1948.

Every factory, school, office building and other large facility of any kind is generally lighted by fluorescent lights.

The use of incandescents has been pretty much restricted to private homes. That's why the legislation outlawing the 100watt incandescent bulbs will make almost no impact of any kind of national energy use.

Only idiots would have bothered proposing that bill or voting for it. Only a total fool would have signed it.

Sorry George "W" ~ this one was one of your more IGNANT tricks.

Just wait until the Department of Energy SWAT team starts ‘no knock’ searches for made in Texas light bulbs in other states...

So, for those of us who will be crossing state lines to buy bulbs in TX, would this be a felony?
