By RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVAR, Associated Press – 8 mins ago

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama's health care law would let several million middle-class people get nearly free insurance meant for the poor, a twist government number crunchers say they discovered only after the complex bill was signed.

The change would affect early retirees: A married couple could have an annual income of about $64,000 and still get Medicaid, said officials who make long-range cost estimates for the Health and Human Services department.

I’d qualify, except I hit Medicare age the year before.

Don’t now whether to laugh or cry.

Most Middle Class folks in Queens would only enroll in Medicaid if it were “free.” Moreover, many docs in the area do not accept Medicaid. Consequently, we’ll have many more with insurance but without access to care.

Here's the glitch:

......"That's because, in a major change from today, most of their Social Security benefits would no longer be counted as income for determining eligibility."...........

..............."The Medicare actuary's office roughed out some examples to illustrate how the provision would work. A married couple retiring at 62 in 2014 and receiving the maximum Social Security benefit of $23,500 apiece could get $17,000 from other sources and still qualify for Medicaid with a total income of $64,000. "..................

Didn't Pelosi say, 'we have to pass it to find out what's in it?'

I guess she was telling the truth for once!

I will never lick the boots of anyone associated with that Halfrican, Marxist, skinny little queer, narcissistic, fly attracting, sorry piece of sh$t usurping the office and squatting in the White House. We now have TWO homes outside the U.S. They can take their health care bill and stick it where the sun doesn’t shine. Won’t affect me a bit and I won’t be licking any boots here or anywhere.

here we have several hundred pudgy arrogant elitist idiots dragging the most powerful nation on earth around by the nose and into a sinkhole,

when I was growing up I thought this could never happen in the USA. I always had confidence that if it ever got to this , the people would stand up and fight back (unlike the third world population) ,

I was wrong, we will march into the ovens just like the Jews did in Nazi Germany

That’s the nicest description of Zero I ever read, accurate, and yet poetic. Very touching!

Now, I have also thought about what you are doing...retiring outside the US. But my fear is can you get good medical care in some of these places that are friendly to Americans? It’s going to go downhill here but it’s still pretty darn good compared to most of the world. Or am I wrong?

Don’t let your pride get in the way, take it if for no other reason then to rob the criminals of a monopoly over the loot they stole from the rest of us.

This is among the biggest flaws among the right, we let our virtue guide us into doing exactly what the scam artist that created theses programs hope we will do, thus leaving them not the vast bulk of the loot to themselves.

You don’t discourage an activity by making it more rewarding to those who support and engage in it.

Be clear about this:
The industry groups and advocacy groups for health insurance agents and brokers have been bringing this up, including in Congressional testimony in the Thomas Register, since before the (unread by politicians) bill was presented on the Floor of the House.

I’ve linked to some of these early analysis on FR during the time of the fight over 96 hours to read the bill before voting.

A bit mindful of the times when an engineer would over-ride the “dead man’s pedal” by placing a weighted satchel on said pedal. Train could then speed along unattended while the “train driver” took care of his bidness.
The way our social engineers are driving, we’re liable to soon jump the track.

More clowerd piven, overwhelm the system.
And still there are Americans who can’t fathom a president intentionally wrecking this country’s economy.

The old “pass the bill and then you get to find out what’s in it” trick. Works every time.

Can’t do it. This just piles the debt onto our children’s backs. At the rate we are going, the next generation of Americans might become 3rd world serfs. :(

But Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah, the ranking Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, called the situation "unacceptable" and said he intended to look into it.

Hey, a Senator is going to look into so we can all rest easy.

Orrin Hatch is on it like a pit bull on a newborn. Do I have time to take a shower?
