Sounds like we may have a good comeback when the liberals spew about Iran-Contra.

The scenario has now been posed. It will be interesting to see if it has any legs.

Holder doesn’t even lie well. He was horrible at the hearing, looking around for Regis and the life-line phone.

I doubt it. They’re not a dense bunch. What they are doing is publicizing it at a good time.

ATF has been an EPIC FAIL ever since their botched raid against the Branch Davidians where much to their surprise the Davidians did not knuckle under to overwhelming force but shot back. And if I remember right three ATF agents were killed and others injured

ATF= laughing stock. Clowns, dupes, buffoons collecting huge Federale paychecks. That agency should be nuked along with the EPA and all personnel thrown on the bread lines

Was Fast and Furious a Gun-Control Plot?

Does BATF stand for "Bad Attitude Towards Freedom"?

The American people deserve decent liars. This shows what contempt the Obama-bots have for the American people

baraq did say that they were working on gun control under the radar. Fits the bill. If holder had baraq’s approval, then both of them are complicit in this. If holder acted on his own, then baraq has a roque ag. Either way, this stinks big time. Hope Issa gets to the bottom of this or else they will try something even bigger and soon.

Mabye this is what Obama meant when he said that gun control was being promoted “under the radar.”

Not only is that my take on his statement in light of information on "Operation Fast and Furious", but that would mean he at the least had knowledge of the operation and did not order it stopped. That's impeachment material and a criminal act.

The question is, How many BATFE offices were involved in this operation? Arizona may just be the tip of the iceberg.

Right on brother. And it's good to see the MSM (if the IBD can be called such) noting and stating the real purpose behind F&F.

Most of the MSM are still just parroting the "sting gone bad" ATF cover story. Even FOX News for the most part.

...was the ATF program actually an attempt to advance gun-control efforts by an administration that has blamed Mexican violence on easy access to U.S. weapons?

Oh, for the love of Pete.

That would be like asking, are DemocRATS intentionally destroying jobs and businesses in order to create a voting bloc that is more and more dependent on government, thereby guaranteeing their own perpetual re-election?

Oh. Wait.

There’s only so far that the left can push their agenda without disarming their opposition.

They’ve gotten really close to that point with 0bamacare.

Meh. Other than a few oddities like .50BMG caliber Barretts, there are better sources for “high power” arms for narcotrafficantes. As some wag put it: is a drug kingpin, sitting in his million-dollar up-armored Hummvee, having just inspected a DC-10 packed with tons of pure coke, going to tell his minions “go across the border to Bubba’s Bait & Boomsticks and get me a Tec9, I understand he’s lax on his paperwork”? NO! OF COURSE NOT!

And that’s why it’s only sensible to conclude this operation was intended to create a strawman by which the 2nd Amendment could be torn down: there was no other viable purpose, legal or not, for such an operation. Big-budget cartels will get pallets of military-grade arms “lost” during otherwise above-board well-documented inter-government shipments*. Smaller fish will still prefer easily-obtained full-auto arms over the lame semi-auto-only options which “walked”. “Operation Gunrunner” was designed to stop the arms before they crossed the border; this administration’s “Fast and Furious” modification to that operation let them cross and disappear, with ZERO articulable reasoning. Just doesn’t add up to anything other than building an excuse to subject the USA to UN anti-small-arms trafficking regulations by an administration which does not accept American superiority as axiomatic.

* - this was my original theory.

Back to your scenario, the drug kingpin is going to call his cousin Carlos to go over to Billybob's Bait and Tackle to pick up some 50 cal stuff and get Jose to bring it back using the Zapateca route through the National Forest area ~ "we'll be there with 'Junior' Espinoza, Romero ~ you know him ~ and the Trevino brothers. OK?"

The only thing you got right is the drug kingpin doesn't do the work ~

I don’t follow. What did I miss? The kingpin will tell his minions to pay a military contact to order a truckload of new M16s (and a side order of .50BMGs) which will have all the proper Customs, ATF, etc. paperwork in place and shipped thru formal channels, then conveniently “lost” while being driven to a remote outpost.

This is a classic example of the Hegelain Dialectic.

1. Government wants to achieve a goal that is unacceptable to the people.

2. Government creates a problem that is opposite to its desired unacceptable goal.

3. The people, who are suffering because of the government created problem, then beg the government to institute the formerly unacceptable goals to solve the problem.

Therefor:

1. Government wants gun control. This is unacceptable to the people.

2. The government then puts guns illegally into the hands of criminal gangs. This is exactly opposite of their unacceptable goal of gun control.

3. The people suffer because of this and beg (or at least acquiesce) to the previously unacceptable gun control measures to solve the problem.

This is how socialists/communists operate.

IMHO, anyone involved in this atrocity should be turned over to the Mexican government for prosecution. Many more Mexicans have died because of this than Americans.

Of course it was - it went badly (for the boy king).

IMPEACH as soon as Issa has the smoking gun, the House should be working on articles right now.
