Legendary comedian Jerry Lewis was rushed to a hospital in Sydney today, after falling ill minutes before he was about to perform to a club.

The 85-year-old entertainer, on his eighth tour of Australia to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation, fell ill just before he was scheduled to entertain an expectant crowd.

Mr Lewis was so ill that he could not even get out of a car which brought him to the club last night.

He was driven to hospital where he was admitted for tests but there was no immediate comment on his condition.

Jerry Lewis has done a lot of good work. I am suprised that he has lasted as long as he has with pulmonary fibrosis. I saw him in a small boat with his young daughter about 12 years ago. I pointed to him and said “Look, there is Buddy Love.” He smiled and waved back at me.

Me, too. That's what killed my mother and it is a horrible way to go.

I heard Dick Van Dyke (also 85) being interviewed a couple of weeks ago. He was rehabbing from a torn ACL and was planning to go back on the road when he was healed!

Must have aggravated that old injury from tripping over the ottoman.

Sorry to learn about this. Jerry Lewis had a splendid career, even without Dean Martin. The article states that he has raised one billion for the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation. He was in Australia to perform at a benefit for the organization. At 85, ones allotted time on earth is almost over. Jerry Lewis was using his for a worthy purpose. Prayers for his health.

“Keith Richards @ 100!”

Keith passed on in 1981.

It's only the remaining drugs and stimulants that have kept his body animated for the past 30 years. As luck would have it, he consumed enough drugs and stimulants during the 60’s and 70’s that it has been estimated that his body will continue to move until 2217.
