Same-sex marriage, cancer, and fig leaves
World Magazine ^ | 25 June | Olasky

Posted on 06/25/2011 6:03:10 PM PDT by flowerplough

...The (AP) article quoted nine people, all ecstatic about the new gay right. Queens teacher Eugene Lovendusky was typical: “I am spellbound. I’m so exhausted and so proud that the New York State Senate finally stood on the right side of history.” Reporter Karen Zraick even quoted one official saying the new law is “good news” for city tourism.

But what about the AP’s “Statement of Ethical Principles”? The first sentence under the heading “Integrity” states, “The newspaper should strive for impartial treatment of issues and dispassionate handling of controversial subjects.” Impartiality and dispassionate handling were nowhere in evidence yesterday and today, but that’s not surprising on this or other controversial issues where all reasonable people know what the right side of history is—right?

This coverage showed once again that worldviews typically direct the reporting of controversial issues. Most liberals see same-sex marriage as a human right and opposition to such as ethical cancer. We cheer medical advances that fight particular kinds of cancer, and no one sees the need to balance out anti-cancer viewpoints with pro-cancer ones.

Was AP coverage improved by its follow-up report at 9:03 a.m., which stuck on—like a fig leaf—brief sentences by opponents of same-sex marriage? (Maybe someone remembered AP’s ethics code.) Not really, because the story did not even mention the past few days of State Senate negotiations concerning what will become the new battle in New York: What happens to the religious freedom of those who want to uphold biblical standards concerning marriage?

What happens to their religious freedom is that they lose all their church property to the homosexuals who infiltrate their churches. Gay and lesbian organizations are rich and powerful and will roll over the commoner like a tank.

I just looked up GLAAD on Wikipedia and this led me to lists of gay and lesbian organizations and they are without end. They bring in millions of taxpayer dollars, grants from foundations and corporate money.

What’s all this kvetching about integrity? AP genuinely could not find anyone in its entire office who wasn’t swept off of his/her feet with delight at this happening! /sardonic

They are welcome to uphold Biblical standards - as soon as the far left provides a revised and more inclusive Bible for them to use.

I don’t think such a process is available in New York State. Instead you have to replace the governor and a bunch of the House and Senate.

The Grand Marshal of a gay pride parade apparently ran over another gay.

And it’s just a start. Two guys and a goat or sheep or two girls and a big dog, all consenting adults of course, are on the agenda next. How about Bob and Francis, now that they are married and “normal”, adopting some cute little defenceless boys?

I have always wondered how gay marriage will play out if the Bush tax cuts are not renewed. The Bush tax cuts eliminated the marriage penalty. Funny thing, it seems that it was after that penalty went away that the gay population started pushing hard for marriage.

Do you think if the Bush tax cuts do not renew the gays will scream that they should not have to pay the penalty?

This is how gay marriage played out in my family. My gay brother married his gay boy friend in a private ceremony in Mexico in 2003 which I did not attend. My brother and spouse returned to St Louis where AIDS continued to ravage my brother’s health.

AIDS allows many diseases to ravage the body: my brother had blindness, neuropathy, renal disease, etc. Finally he got brain cancer, in 2005, after 14 years with AIDS. Wash U Hospital treated him with one dose of chemo, he had a seizure, and died. He was 48 at that time, and a very gifted stage actor and director.

So, I am not a fan of Gay Marriage. Homosexuality cost me my brother who is gone from my life now. I loved him and am grateful for the time we had together. Homosexual behaviour is not what God intended, and marriage is a sacred sacrament to be entered into before God and witnesses, by a man and a woman, and mankind is not free to mess with the gift of the institution of marriage without suffering great pain as individuals and as a society.

My guess is the next targets of the perverts is the prohibition of pedophilia & group marriage.

What studies there are, rarely show the mates in a “gay marriage” or “same sex civil union” keeping exclusively to one another. More commonly they each end up having more partners than if they had never bothered with the charade — the partner is perceived as a drag on the libertine life, and more libertine behavior ensues in an attempt to make up for it. Voila, more venereal disease, not less.
