He helps prepare the land for cultivation and offers advice when they need it, although driving through his estate, it is clear that some of what is now in black hands is being used for little more than subsistence agriculture.
Such goodwill, however, counts for little when groups of club-wielding "war veterans" - ostensibly men who fought in Zimbabwe's war for independence, but in practice often just hired thugs - turn up to demand a farmer's departure...
...What stung more, though, were the "Go back to Britain" slogans they shouted - meaningless to a man who is in fact of French Huguenot stock, has only ever held a Zimbabwean passport, and has nowhere else to go even if he wanted to.
Infuriatingly, the view that he has no longer a citizen of his own country is shared by the black prosecutor who will oversee his trespass case next week, who has described him in previous court appearances as merely a "visitor".
"I have never viewed myself as anything other than Zimbabwean, and that is what hurts me most," he said.
"We are not being looked at as citizens of this country, yet my father was born here before Robert Mugabe. What future do we have when you are fighting people of that mentality?"

He has a poor attitude. Not sure why he cannot just celebrate diversity like everyone else.
These are Holder’s people, da klan’s people, hitler’s people, mad mo’s people etc.... Go to a neighboring country that appreciates good farmers and do what you know. If there is such a place on the continent.
Or have U2 hold another concert for the starving people of Zimbabwe.
He is lucky to be getting away with his life.
Being kind to animals like this is taken by them as a sign of weakness.
I don’t know where to tell this fellow to go, but take your family and whatever these animals allow you to take with you and run for your life.
You are reaping the benefits of a country set free from Apartheid by a world who felt that the poor blacks had sense enough to run your country, and still will not admit their mistake.

You must see the documentary” Mugabe and the White African”.
It chronicled exactly what happened to a white farmer in 2010. Many blacks are on the white farmer’s side, but corruption wins in the end. Civilization is not a normal state of human existence. It must be nurtured.
That’s the problem.
This is his country, his family’s country and it has been their home for many generations. They tilled the land and built the large farms, raised animals, opened dairies — they helped build up the economy, feed, employ and educate the citizens. Now the country is starving and its currency is worthless.
It is his color — his heritage that is being attacked. And Mugabe and his ilk have watched Zimbabwe and its people die in order to savor that satisfaction.
The only hope for most, if not all, african nations was european rule. The whole continent is a basket case.
I’m sure he would be welcomed with open arms here considering our practically open-border situation. Oh wait, he’s white and productive, nevermind.
Yes, by all means, dispossess the White farmers.
Those guys ran their farms as if growing crops to feed the people of Zimbabwe was the point of the exercise.
It’s far better that everyone realize that farming is meant to make the land barren and devoid of crops, thus dependent on a powerless and impoverished government that’s eternally looking to cadge foreign handouts from soft-headed Western idiots.
Yeah, that makes sense.

It continues to amaze me how apparently liberal (in this instance) whites will pander to these (in this instance) black thugs. If they had taken a stand and either left or resisted with ultimate force, things would be different for them and in the long term. Pander to thugs and the thugs will eventually kill you (either figuratively or literally). Sheesh!
This is what happens when the parasite class takes over. I’ve often wondered what would have happened if the whites had hung on to at least one one part of South Africa (Orange Free State? Transvall?) and maintained white rule there. How different it would be from the rest of the continent.
