An elderly woman in the late-stages of leukemia was forced to undergo 45 minutes of additional screenings last Saturday when she tried to board a flight out of Northwest Florida Regional Airport, her daughter told FoxNews.com
Lena Reppert, 95, was to say her final goodbyes to her daughter before she made what would most likely be her last flight to her native Michigan. After eight years of battling leukemia, doctors say she doesn’t have much time to live.
“She said she wanted to be closer to her grave,” Jean Weber, her daughter, told FoxNews.com. “I knew it would probably be the last time I ever see her.

After 45 minutes, the mother and daughter were given two options: either don't fly, or lose the Depend. The women chose the latter.
“I ran with her to the bathroom and stripped her down,” Weber recalled. “I got back to the line and just started bawling.”
Weber said the emotional toll was too much. From perhaps seeing her mother for what could be the last time, to having to see her mother go through all the security measures, “I just cried and said, ‘Please can you let her through, she’s just so sick,” she said.

Every flight I’ve been on in the last couple years have been overbooked. Gone are the days of getting three seats to yourself.
IF people became outraged enough, AND there were empty seats, THEN things will change. But I don’t see that happening.
If I get a call on Weds to visit a client, I’m there by Thu or Fri. If I said I was takin gthe train and I’d be there Tuesday, they’d hire someone else who’d be there Thu.
As in any bureaucracy, soon to be ALF-CIO union supported bureaucracy, the leadership cannot respond to a rapidly changing environment. This s is why TSA will never catch a future terrorist.
Add to this PC in the extreme - please write five identifying characteristics of hijackers as has been proven over the last 10, 20, 30 years and see if any them match the dying white grandmother - and see where things are going.
BTW - TSA was established with the proviso that airports could opt out. But then, that proviso was canceled when it appeared that airports were going to go that direction.

There needs to be an independent airline that DOES NOT allow TSA searches - locks the cockpit doors so the plane can’t be used as a weapon - and has the right to reject any rider for any reason. No one has to fly with them - everyone will know the risk... It can be called Texas Air or some such thing.

Why would a terrorist want to try to plant a bomb on someone's grandmother? Even if it were conceivable, I would tend to think that someone - granny or someone around her - would have something to say about a Middle Easterner putting bombs on her.
Business exception understood. The reason planes are booked out is because of fewer planes. The airlines would rather park planes that fly them half full. It’s not cost effective to do that.
This will continue as long as we, the citizens, allow it to continue. Might be time for some civil disobedience. All passengers should refuse to board the plane when this happens. Oh, yeah, I know. It will inconvenience everyone, but this is just the start of jack-booted tyranny, and if people don’t recognize that, this country is done. Finished.

I had her in a wheel chair and they took her aside and made her stand from her wheel chair and spread her legs and arms. They would not allow me to assist her and as I watched them wand my 80 yr. old dying sister, her legs trembled spastically from her exerting all the effort she had to keep standing.
Meantime I was having to open the case that held her 15 lb. suction machine so they could go over every inch of that. I thought, do I, a 73 yr. old woman and my dying 80 yr. old sister really look like a terrorist threat to these people? Our little hometown airport didn't wand her on the return trip which I was so thankful for.
My sis passed away 4 mos. later.

When did the TSA become the NASDP? Did someone issue black armbands to TSA? I hope there were a lot of cel phone cameras capturing this insane activity! Where is the dignity? The respect? Who established these rules? Whoever did so should suffer unceasingly!
my counter to that would be that they would always approach swat-style, overwhelming force, shoot on any perceived resistance, etc. heck, local cops do it already.

I’m doing my part. I haven’t flown since 2002 because of this crap and since then it has only gotten worse.
I understand your words. I have a pacer/ICD which I pace 100%. I carry two letters from two doctors, Metronic card & TSA tried to get me in full body scanner. My letter from doc states no scans,or any type electrical item that could cause a malfunction. If I can not hang over a car engine, have no MRI or be around welding why would I want a body scan.
They can see my implant but they act so stupid & they love to belong to union so they can not get fired.
My husband is retired Airline Pilot & his words can not be repeated about stories of TSA.
